A PUBLIC and Civil Discussion on the Rules

I don’t visit them, so I guess I’m missing that part of understanding your post. But that isn’t my point. Using stronger words isn’t conveying emotion. All caps, cursing and such conveys emotion. Again, I want what’s best for ELR. I think giving the community a chance to self-police now before doing anything drastic is the best approach. The folks who have been naughty know who they are, and know it needs to stop.

That’s the self-policing I keep referring to. It needs to be done. And for new folks, a tighter hand ensuring that they understand it isn’t appropriate should cover things nicely.

The inflated staff roles should be very helpful now going forward. But do we need radical changes?

I totally agree. If someone uses some swear words it aint no biggie. Its the more gratuitous stuff that comes into question and even then i would be fine with it but a large part of the community isnt.

See, you get it…

I always got it. Maybe now you do too! (Winking emoticon made of words).

And I’m sorry if a 3 month old’s opinions have ruffled feathers. I can’t help it; I like this place. Too much shifting in either direction will upset the balance here, and I’d hate to see that.

Does anyone object to already-in-place rules enforcements, self-policing, and staff reminding new members that really bad stuff is not desired? Or do we really need more right now?

Let me pause for a single second here to say thank you to everyone for keeping it civil. I very much appreciate it.

I concur with previously said opinions, don’t want to flood the post with stuff already said/repeated.

And using your picture, and acknowledging that eliquid and mixing of such, is intended for adults, then everything here content wise should be expected to be NC-17. OR even rated R (restricted to adults).

/end directed commentary
/begin general thread commentary

Whee I draw the line is explicit.

Innuendo and alliteration is fine. But being an adult in this context, to me, means keep your detailed sex life your own! I don’t care what anyone’s thoughts of what’s acceptable or not about what goes on behind closed doors. That’s between the folks involved, and standards vary greatly all over the world.

I’m not saying it should be so straight laced that you can’t joke about “not getting any”, or “I got worn the fuck out”… I’m simply saying, keep the EXPLICIT details personal, or at least in private where birds of a feather can appreciate it, so there don’t have to be “standards wars” in the first place!

/OT so much for trying to stay out of this raging inferno.

IMO There’s basically 3 outlooks. There’s being an adult, there’s being a morally righteous adult, and then there’s just flat out “I’m a child who’s aged.”

Lets go forward with this here.

And all three MUST live in harmony, with the site not catering heavily to one over the other. Anyone too ‘radical’ in their camp should not try to force their will on the general population here. If you cannot adhere to the forum’s stated direction, you are the problem. Not everyone else. I get that, and I hope everyone else does too. Those that don’t; thanks for playing. Don’t forget your program on the way out.

I hope people are getting a small insight into what goes on behind the scenes on a site this big. It can be really quite stressful. At the same time it is very fun and rewarding.

Aw shucks, you’re welcome.

As long as it fits within the guidelines of how discussions generally should be, I’m fine with this. There are multiple forums for multiple topics. If you’re in the Saloon or Pub, you can probably get away with a lot and I don’t think this whole thread is about that.

There are things that each person could do. If, for example, you were to post an image that you wouldn’t let your 8-year old see in a publicly accessible thread, you could throw a spoiler-tag around it, like so: …image here… - now it doesn’t work right now, but it will, later tonight. Naturally that also works for text, if you are in need of such a thing.

As for the thread derailment, people need to learn how to create a new topic from a reply… I know you’ve heard it before, but simply click the link-icon of the post you want to reply to

image

then click “New topic”

image

The moderators split derailed topics into new topics - when we do, maybe we should leave a guide how to do it (or a link to one), in the “split topic”-message…

EDIT: I am going to enable the spoiler-plugin later, but that means the site will be unavailable while I rebuild the forum software - so I will wait, maybe even do it in about 10 hours :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

EDIT: Wonderful idea for text. Pics are either a yes or no thing imo

Okay but I can go into a vape shop with my child… so how about pg or pg-13

But I do see your point, but you got to draw the line somewhere and a nc-17 or rated r the sting for posts would open the flood gates to chaos

Hold on… So your saying people can post explicit images but use the spoiler tag?

I would go with or without, what if I open the spoiler thinking its a new mod and find a huge cock there?

This would be a good place for that “self-police or face the consequences” thing.
