Christmas Vapes

Howdy,

Does anyone know a decent mince pie recipe? Or have any suggestions on where I should start with my mix?

I was thinking maybe pie crust, whipped cream, cinnamon spice and a dash of brandy?

Obviously I could be wrong

Thanks in advance

Matt

Start by checking what the actual ingredients of a real mince pie are:

high quality mincemeat
plain flour
golden caster sugar
ground almonds
unsalted butter
free-range egg
milk, to glaze

For the mincemeat:
raisin
currant
brandy
lemon zest
lemon juice
shredded suet
dark brown sugar
chopped mixed peel
nutmeg
Bramley apple

So yeah, get your fruits and nutmeg and brown sugar and almonds and butter in this recipe too… not too sure what you could use for suet (beef or mutton fat). You can probably ignore it and hope that one of the butter flavors will do the trick but i’m not familiar with the real pie so I can’t really tell.
This thing has a whole lot going on here…

I clicked on this link and it says “Not suitable for vaping”.
And I’m not sure that this would really fit in this recipe [correct me if I’m wrong].

The meat used was normally finely chopped — also known as minced in cooking lingo — and that’s where this pastry got its name. But by the 20th century, beef suet replaced the meat in most mincemeat, and the fruits (such as apples, dried raisins and candied citrus) took center stage — always with booze like brandy.

Most likely because of the diacetyl. Which means its probably delicious…you know, for a beef flavor… :cut_of_meat:

Looks nice, wish I had all the flavors to give it a try

marked as private, still a work-in-progress?

I may still tweak it some here or there. Not ready to make it public.

It’s says diacetyl is not suitable for vaping

I don’t know if it would fit in the recipe or not. I saw that the op needed to find some sort of suet for the recipe so I went searching. I came up with this flavor and bacon ( which would definitely not be suitable).
I was trying to be a helpful forum member to the op.

If a mix takes 4-6 weeks to steep…now is actually the perfect time to start thinking about it. Gotta leave a little wiggle room for testing and failing and all ya know. :stuck_out_tongue:

I feel ya and totally agree. My Walmart set up the Christmas stuff two weeks ago. :confounded: If it keeps going like this, they’re gonna be setting up Christmas stuff at Easter!

I started a couple Christmas mixes two months ago and I’m glad I did because they both taste like shit and I had to go back to the drawing board…
