The icing on top of cinnamon rolls is plain ol’ vanilla frosting. I use it on all my cakes and cupcakes.

So, I think any sweet vanilla. Maybe Vanilla Swirl + FA Vanilla (Classic), or Vanilla Classic + Sweetener, or FA Marshmallow or TPAs is great too. Any recipe entitled Vanilla Pudding will do the trick.

Resurrecting a very old thread as I’m asking the same question and thought that considering the age of this one perhaps there’s more available now.

Basically I’m trying to copy the taste of icing as you bite into it. I appreciate it’s not going to be identical but something similar.

I’ve often thought about trying Lorrans cream cheese icing but haven’t yet.
From what I’m reading it still appears very popular and could possibly be my best choice.

Unfortunately in Australia we’re a little limited in what we can buy domestically but I’d love to read people’s opinions on what works for them and go from there.

Thanks in advance.

OOO Vanilla Cheese Cake Custard is very similar to the Loranns minus the long steep.

Thanks for the reply but I think OOO is a manufacturer that we can’t buy domestically.

I know I’ve researched their strawberry jam and couldn’t find anywhere.
I’m tempted to put an order into chefs so I can try some OOO.
