Removing the finish from a mod..?

@VapeyMama Use a fine steel wool and then finish it up with a folded up piece of tin foil. A luthier friend of mine turned me on to this trick.

My suggestion would be scotchbrite. You can get it in various levels of abrasive, it is sort of spongy so you wont take a ton of metal off. Might want to put blue tape over the display and the leather and other sensitive bits to protect them. After you get it off, get a clear wrap from jwraps or vaporskinz to protect the metal from scratches.

That’s a great idea, I wouldn’t have thought of clear wraps!

Without making it look dull? :open_mouth:

I used a nail buffer on mine and nailpolish remover.
But i do get a silicone case for all my mods. Jojo makes one for every shape and size on amazon!

They have one for that toaster you haul around.

No dulling… rather, buffs and polishes to a shine. It is also a nice aid in buffing and polishing delicate wood finishes.

Well done @VapeyMama , looks like a great start. I also agree about using the 3/0 steel wool.I use it often when applying fine oil finishes on wood projects. It should cut the loose paint well and still leave the metal intact.
Here is a pic of 00 and it is used for polishing metal.
Great idea @Kinnikinnick
