I use the flavor note section often as a reference. It’s given me a good starting point for percentage of a flavor to use in a mix. It’s worked out pretty well so far.
One exception that it steered me wrong was malted milk (TFA). The average use in a mix was 2.9% I used that much in a berry/banana mix that was flavorful and good just a touch on the sweet side and needed a little something. Adding malted milk muted out all flavor. It was completely flavorless. I’m not saying malted milk (tfa) is a bad flavor but one I’ve now learned to be cautious of in the future and will be using very minut amounts.

That is quite correct. I recommend no more than 2% but many mixes maybe even less. I ran into that problem as well when I first purchased the Malted Milk. I love what it will do for the flavor of a mix but as you know, you must be careful…

The Inawera Rum (just plain “rum”) is an excellent choice for a rum flavor in a mix. It’s a “clear rum” type flavor. Mixed at 3% to 6%, it will knock your socks off! A bit of steep time is required, but it’s worth the wait.

I’ve tried a couple of different Jamaican rums but they don’t have the same kick.

I have Jamaican Rum (FA) coming from ECX. I’ll be sure and add the Inawera Rum to my shopping list though.

I’m anxious to try the Inawera Rum as well. I have a collection of Rums and coconuts…constantly on the hunt for the best duo. I have FA and if you’re looking for a good, spicy dark rum, it’s great…like Kraken. If you’re looking for a Captain Morgan, it’s not. I paired FA Jamaican Rum and Coconut and it was straight up Captain Jack (Sparrow, not Harkness) stranded on the beach with nothing but coconuts and old pirate rum. LoL. FA flavors are very authentic and I was going for more of a Captain Morgan coconut rum…not so much. That being said, they’re both VERY good if you know what they are and what to use them with.

FA Jamaican rum at 10%…? LoL I have no idea. I was referring to the brand of rum. If there’s not a recipe named Kraken there should be.
