As little as your smoke I’d suggest trying 0 nic first
Many heavily addicted cigarette smokers started for this same reason. I thought my older cousin was cool when i was age 11, started puffing on his and was buying my own packs at age 12. Forward to age 30 and 40, I had a 25-40 cigarette per day addiction, and all of the coughing, wheezing and Sleep Apnea that can go along with it.
(If you can truly maintain a 3-4 cigarette per week habit, you are probably not going to become Ill or have a smokers cough or wheezing because of it, but if it gets a hold on you, you may see a pack per day habit happen sooner than later)
At age 40, I started seeing more people i knew with e-cigarette pens and tried it after a long time of observing and thinking about it. When I switched, I switched for real. No more cigarettes.
So, the answer is YES. It can help you to quit cigarettes, but only if you already want to quit. It’s not magic. Use it as a tool. Especially if you only do it to be cool. It is way less harmful than smoking if done with quality equipment, ingredients and knowledge.

@Vape_Boy Here’s our story
Around thanksgiving 2013 our son called and asked wifey and I if we would be open to the idea of getting “vape devices” for Christmas. I knew I was but wasn’t sure about wifey. I talked it over with her and we decided to agree to the idea of them. Thinking if nothing else maybe we could at least cut down on our smoking and save some money.
For Christmas we each got an “ego” mod, two MT3 tanks and some flavors. Plus we got to go through a bunch of flavors my son didn’t care for. We both started vaping. We smoked some and vaped some.
By February I had an Innokin SVD and two more tanks. I noticed that I had cut way down on my smoking and wifey had also. On Feb 25th 2014 I got out of bed, made the coffee just like I always did. Only on that day I picked up my MOD instead of a cigarette and went out to my patio where I always smoked in the mornings. As I sat out there I realized that vaping was far more satisfying. Since that day I have not had even one cigarette, I have not wanted one or even considered having one. Wifey continued to vape and smoke up until March 15th 2014. On that fateful day she ran out of cigarettes and never bothered to get more. Since that day we have been devotees to the vaping movement and dearly love our vaping. I think the biggest thing is we didn’t try to force it we just let it happen. Vaping more and more while smoking less and less till we just naturally vaped instead of smoked. Without vaping I would probably be dead by now having had two heart attacks prior to quitting and my doctor ragging on me constantly about my blood pressure and all the other signs that said another one probably a big one was coming and soon.
Since then we have either won or bought about 18 mods as they have gotten bigger and better. Currently I vape mainly my IPV 4 and 8’s, Wifey vapes her Vapresso Nebula and her Beyond Vape Centurion. We both use sub ohm tanks with factory coils and are perfectly happy with them. I mix all our juices me fruit and booze her bakery and creamies.
VAPING FOREVER
It kind of depends on which type of atomiser you are go9ing to use, a mouth to lung restricted draw device usually need a higher level of nic than direct to lung wide open airflow one does. I started with the mouth to lung and was OK with18 and 12, but when I got my present Direct to lung wide open airflow ones I have dropped down to 3mg/ml, tried to go to zero, but that didn’t work for me! I chain smoked hand rolled Top Tobacco for 35 years, and I guess the equivalent of 1 1/2 to 2 cigarettes worth of nic. is what I need each day. I also have COPD and my lung specialist is fine with me vaping!
