Best method for steeping

Can anyone point me in the right direction please? What’s the best method for steeping? Do you leave it in a dark place? Do you remove the caps and let it breathe daily? Do you give it a warm bath? Or a mixture of all 3? I’m looking for the best method to maximise the quality of flavour… thanks in advance :blush::+1::facepunch:
