Very dumb question… I’m getting ready to buy some pre-wrapped claptons. Now… they will last longer than a single wire wrap, right?
They can last longer if they’re taken care of
Depending upon the juice you VAPE they may or may not gunk up quicker than a standard wrap coil.

So the benefit is a bigger cloud?
The benefit of intricate coil builds is different notes in the juice, better wicking properties, more wattage able to be supplied to the coil, more flavour, more warmth.
However it will also depend upon the wire used in said coils
Personally I don’t use Kanthal any more, nichrome80 for intricate builds and titanium for TC.

Everyone bangs kanthal, but if youre building for a modest tank, nichrome and the others will make your build exceptionally low in resistance. My builds are low enough with just kanthal, fused 28 w 32 = 0.31 ohms

Nichrome IME isn’t massively lower on resistance than kanthal.
For example 10wrap 3mm 24g Nichrome80 is around 0.7ohms
The same for kanthal would be 0.9ohms.
Personally I feel Nichrome80 gives a better flavour than kanthal and it has the advantage of ramping up quicker.

I do like the ramp up of nichrome, but those 2 tenths make a difference to me. Id rather be closer to .5 than to .1…and with kanthal fused and clapton’d im right there in the middle.
Keep in mind this is just me, right now, starting out with claptons, in tanks…i rarely drip.
I drop more than I tank lol
Very rarely am I vaping above .2ohms unless it’s on my cricket.

OK I have never built a coil in my life so this question may be very stupid lol.
Has anyone alien wrapped a zipper coil or is it even possible and would there be any benefits for wicking and vapor if it’s possible to do that and actually run it??
Reason for asking is I just watched some how to videos of both coils being built and was wondering if it’s possible to combine the two.
Going to probably get the Herakles RTA thanks to @Phill for pointing it out to me, and start trying to build myself.
I’m sure it’s been done by someone. I have seen some pretty crazy coil builds over on FB in a Coil Building group I’m in.

Should have said, my current ability. Right now I’m just playing with prebuilt wire, practicing wrapping and determining what styles I like and wire types I like. Mostly I’m just after great flavor in a dual coil setup in the 0.25-0.5 ohm range.
