Coil Building show offs!

Is the goon really as good as people are saying in the reviews?

I don’t own one myself…yet. But this titanium one is just beautiful. I do want one some day so that I can through some crazy big coil builds at it.

Georgous bit of kit. :ok_hand: Expensive though.

Wrapped up some 3 x twisted 28g SS 316 for my griffin yesterday. 3.5mm ID at 8 wraps and it came in at around 0.28 ohms. Nice clean vape but just not enough flavor output for me so I decided to get out the clapton jig and give it a go. After a couple attempts, I managed to get some fused clapton wire built. 2 x 28g SS 316 wrapped in 36g SS 316.

Went ahead and build a couple of coils, 10 wrap 3.5mm ID, which came out pretty good. I haven’t installed them yet and I think I might remove a few wraps as I think it would be too high of ohms for what I’m looking for at least according to steam engine.

Look nice and tight. :ok_hand:

The twisted SS coils weren’t giving me the flavor output that I was looking for so I decided to give my griffin 25 an ultrasonic bath and put in the new SS clapton coils.

I took off three wraps looking to get 0.25 ohms. I’m now at 7.5 wraps 3.5 ID with the 2x28g/36g SS.

Getting some nice color!

It ended up coming in at 0.31 ohms. Looks like I could have removed another wrap, oh well, close enough. Hitting it at 60w and the flavor is off the chart!!!

SS fused claptons are where it’s at for me.

How is the ramp up time? What device are you using?

Quick ramp up and flavor for days. I have it on my iPV5 running at 60w. Vaping some Stellar Strawberry by @Code-Vape (<-- AWESOME)

I would say ramp up is almost non-existent.

Nice. I’ve tired my own dual ss316l Clapton and the ramp up time was horrible in a dual 18650 mod. But that was user error I’m sure on wire selection…26 wrapped with 28. Yup.

But odly enough I have my Ipv5 on the way from eciggity and will try again with the correct fancy wire I got from advance vape supply. But so far it doesn’t ramp up well on a single battery…while using hive wire (6 strands of like 32g ss316 weaved).

What wattage were you running them at or were you running them in TC mode?

i was just gonna ask him the same question. @Chrispdx let us know your wattage range and we can suggest some core/wrap wire for you…

i have some 28g SS wrapped with 32g SS, but the wire is so flimsy thats its really hard to work with. does going fused 28g make it any easier to work with or was that flimsy as well?

The fused 28g was easy to work with, not very flimsy but springy. But that is SS. I used my coil master jig to wrap it up and it worked great. Super easy.

@Bearkat @Whiterose0818. The vertibrade wire I tried running it from 40-73watts…power mode. No ss tc option on my ipvd2…and the mod gets warm running that coil.

But it was the same issue on the claptons I made…pretty slow ramp up time…but again it was a user error and segelie pushing out a pos that doesn’t run tc mode flawlessly for chain vapers like me.

Here’s a pic

Currently using my griffin 22 with a twisted 25g SS317L build in TC on my DNA200 REULEAUX and 485F at 60w running 0.14ohms is great flavour.
I wrapped 6 times around a 2.4mm ramp up is instant and flavour is insane.

My preheat is set to 50w for 1s.

Anyway thought I would stop by and show you all what I’ve been doing lately

First attempt? Nicely done. I try to forget my first attempt, and would never show it to any one.
