I love that you’ve been able to travel the world and see many places. I imagine it’s the best, maybe only way to truly understand your own country. I’ve learned from hearing about your experiences and observations. Keep them coming.

Thanks. I’ve spent 28 of my 63 years overseas. I would travel every chance I had which was a lot. My wife has been with me for 23 of those years. An issue is that I’ve always been extremely bold and daring and this has resulted in so many experiences, many beyond the pale, that it seems, even to me at times, that I’m a fiction writer. My wife tells me to write them down. Maybe, someday I will.

One of my favorites… I wrote this in 2004.

Thank you. No, I haven’t even though I’ve been to Europe numerous times since then. It’s something I’ve regretted, but I’m not dead yet. :grinning:

I believe the exact quote is:

Chickity-check yo self before you wreck yo self
Yeah, come on and check yo self before you wreck yo self)
'Cause shotgun bullets are bad for your health…

This has been one of my favorite lines for years:

And as the sunset faded
I spoke to the faintest first starlight
And I said next time
Next time
We’ll get it right

We’re all going to die. That’s the exciting part, it’s learning how to live for a living. There’s the tricky bitch.

You definitely should do that. Even if it’s just for your own reminiscing. Sometimes simple things turn into something special for others. Not everyone gets the chance to do the traveling and things that come with it that you’ve experienced. Others may benefit from your trekking.

Perfect!..And so true. And i guess that’s in part because no one wants to admit they got fooled.

The real struggle of the twenty-first century will not be between civilizations, nor between religions. It will be between violence and nonviolence. It will be between barbarity and civilization in the truest sense of the word.

One of the fascinating things about human beings is this: Believe for long enough that you are not as smart as others and this will actually lead to intellectual ineptitude. But, confronted with the same doubts, if you choose to believe that your mind is merely dormant for now, lacking in exercise, once you begin to train it, there are no bounds to what you can achieve.

Here is a new quote from yours truly. I now say it to the 13-year-old who knows everything.

“Camping is cool but not if it’s because you just lost the roof over your head.”

I got it from my horoscope this morning… :v: :vulcan_salute:

Did the lack of roof help you to see the stars align?

As a formerly homeless person, I completely agree. I camp for fun and in some cool places. It is way different than nights (and days) spent on skid row in Los Angeles. Years later when I went to work for a homeless services agency, I thought everyone hired should spend a month on the street, just so they know what the experience is like before making judgements about “those people” and thinking they had all the answers.
