One ounce soufflé cups from Smart and Final.
4ml VG per cup by weight
1 eyedropper PG = 1ml
5 drops flavor = 3% as I use the same dripper tips and bottles for all
Wait 30 days testing each week.
I use cheap plastic cocktail straws cut in half as my tasters. Stir and lick the straw and discard.
Smoosh the juice against the roof of your mouth and inhale in your mouth and out your nose and reverse.
Just my 2 cents on how I set my baseline on each flavor.
Works for finished juices too I find the juice needs to be a bit over sweet to the taste for it to not be dry and edgy in a vape.
I usually taste by putting one drop in a shot glass of water and then another test with 2 drops in a shot of water. It tells me not only the flavor profile, but the strength of the flavor. The key to consistent tasting IMHO is using the same amounts of water and flavoring all the time. I’m also mixing single flavor tester mixes but that takes longer since steeping is involved.
Personally, the whole “water test” was a huge failure for me (tried it when first starting out). The same can be said for the Cool Whip testing…
The reason being, there’s just so much alcohol in some flavors (as a carrier) that it was almost impossible to get any kind of actual fair comparison of the actual flavor itself (since, over time, the alcohol dissipates from a mix).
My recommendation would be to mix a test set (varying percentages across several different bottles) and then let them steep.
I won’t go into steeping, but if you use the search function here, you’ll find out more. I personally prefer a mix of ultrasonic and shelf time (for all but MF flavors, those are shelf time only). Others say no heat, others are shake and vape (usually fruits), but even those are better after 3-4 days IMO.
Best of luck though! All you have to do is figure out what’s right for you (with your circumstance)!
I always do my flavour tests with no nicotine. I just see it as something that can denote from the actual flavour, as going from zero to 3mg there’s a definite difference. Not so much in the flavour but the nicotine is a distraction due to the change in throat hit etc…
I also rarely SnV, just because if it’s bad I tend to give up too soon. So 3 days is a minimum, even for single flavours. I do however taste test them immediately, I find I can get a semi accurate idea of what’s to come by tasting a drop.
I sometimes add 1 drop to about 5 mils of milk and taste. You can get a general idea of flavour, strength and any off notes.
But of course it’s a lot better to do it properly but it gives a good idea of the flavour. I’m adding this recipe but won’t enter mix along as received a nomz voucher last month (thank you).
It’s a lemon hard candy.
I thought I was the only person who does this. For 4 years now I get out a teaspoon, put a
half a tsp of heavy whipping cream in it and add a drop. In fact I build my whole recipe in that spoon
as well just to get an idea of how it all tastes together. If I’m planning on any particular flavor being
2% or 3, 4, whatever, I put in 2,3,4 drops of that one. After that I can start tweaking %'s & sweetening. Works like a charm.
Been doing Keto for 5 years now so my fridge is always well-stocked with quarts of heavy whipping cream. Has waaaaaaaay less lactose (sugar/carbs) than skim, 1%, 2% or whole milk.
I just like getting a fair idea of what my recipe tastes like prior to making a small 10ml tester. It’s far more economical to doctor it up a few times first in the spoon with just drops instead ml’s.
I now have a definite excuse to buy whipped cream. Do they sell heavy whipped cream or do you have to make it yourself? Btw, I believe in keto. I’m not totally keto but oh yeah, gimme fat. Fat is good! Oh yeah, I know what you’re talking about, the pints of heavy whipping cream, not whipped cream
Aw, Publix. You’re a Florida girl. One of these days I’ll make it back down to visit my sister. If we had high speed rail I’d be down every year but I don’t like flying anymore. If I was retired I would drive down and visit relatives and friends along the way.
I use soya milk as I don’t drink cow’s milk but as long as your very familiar with the taste it will work. If I added cream flavours to proper cream I might have trouble telling which was which, unless I’m very familiar with the flavour. Works great with soya so will with proper cream. You can sit there eating lots of proper cream and use the excuse your getting to know the flavour.
I got it today and I’m excited to try it. What’s your methodology? You start with one drop per tsp no matter what flavor it is or it’s corresponding pct usage? Uh I need direction.
I normally only do it with 1 or 2 flavours and this method isn’t very precise but get a dessert spoon (that’s 10 mils) if in recipe flavour is 1% or less add 1 drop of each flavour.
If 1.5-2% add 2 drops of each
3% add 3 drops. If you want to taste individual flavours use a tea spoon (5 mils) and add 1 drop. The almond milk is probably better to use because it is neutral.
