I have zero clue about the Taggerz mod but the Cold Steel I have had for about 16 hours now.

Button rattle with the CS but luckily I have a 2nd on order so I can use them as maracas. TC is decent but I have to keep turning up the temp, don’t expect accurate TC but still enjoyable. The TC does prevent dry hits but it is not a gradual drop off, more like a brick wall, I thought it was misfiring at first but it was just the TC kicking in as my tank was getting low. Battery life has been good so far, been through 3 or 4 full tanks in the Kylin M and battery bar still reads 75% full.

Guess it just depends on how you vape? If you are a high power vaper than the Smoant. Medium to low power then get the Ehpro

The Smoant mods are nice and do good Temp control using TCR. I have a Cylon that suffers two fatal flaws. A weak top piece attachment points and the display will go bad when the tape holding the ribbon cable onto the display heats up and shifts. If not for those two problems it would probably be my favorite.

I have a Charon mini that is flawless. Both have the same features.

I would get the TagerZ.

Given how Smoant hasn’t been the same since the team split, plus, with the glowing support of both Lostmarbles and Mjag on the EHPro… I can only say I’d choose the Cold Steel.

Cold Steel brother. Works well and built like a friggin tank.
I know there is a lot of love for the Smoant Cylon but I had issues with mine and Smoant basically said too bad so sad when I contacted them. Kinda soured me on Smoant (Even though I love my Battlestars!)

Cold steel imo…I was a huge fan of Smoant back in the battlestar , charan , cylon days …Most everything after these mods was middle of the road . The cold steel is pretty great

However, there’s a few “concerns” I have now with things.

1. The “Smoant dev team” split. And I be a strong suspicion that those people responsible for the critical aspects of the success of the Cylon are part of those who left Smoant. (They have their own brand now, and there are some features/aspects that are indicators of who designed what…)
2. Given the changes in some of the post-Battlestar/Cylon Era (before the split), I’m not sure I have the same level of confidence in the remaining team. Especially when some of the products since feel like a rehash of previous products, though lacking the refinement and performance. YMMV.

I’ll preface my post with the following:
For a brief time, I could have been considered “one of these” where Smoant was concerned. Unfortunately, their design team split after the creation of the 218w devices (the Cylon, Ranker, and the 218w Charon variation; all of which used the ST Microelectronics chip set). When this split occurred, the remaining designers at Smoant then started using an inferior chip with a firmware to match. The products that followed are ‘ok’, but not nearly the same caliber IMO. Especially in TC which is my personal preference.

Laisimo was a sister company of Sigelei IIRC (but you’ll definitely want to look further into that if Laisimo is a brand you like)

After reading all the problems with them, and having had a look inside one from a kind soul who sent me one to look at, I have avoided them.

Sigelei used to be awesome mods a few years ago. (Though not since 2016 IMO)
