Thatās what I keep telling myself. My wife told me after got hung up in a hose and fell in the yard, scraped the hell out of my knee and recracked two ribs on my right side that
"I need to realize that Iām not 29 (and lying to myself that Iām as tough and resilient as I was when I was at 19) and accept that Iām almost 60." I told her it was easier to think I was still 29 because then the lie I was telling myself about feeling 19 was only a small lie. If I try to think Iām going on 60 and try to tell myself Iām still 19 thatās a real whopper.

Just stay young at heart and the mind and body will follow suit. Damn, Iāve met 19 year olds that are older than me, it is like they slipped into middle age prematurely, well fuck that!!

Yeah it seemed as though my ex-wife was at a dead run for the nursing home the year after out youngest was born and it was a bone of contention for the duration of our own world war we called a marriage. I was a little younger than her in real life but in our minds I was a teen and she was geriatric. I just could never allow myself to feel or act as old as she tries to be.

Wifey and I are still just kids at heart. Weāre going to the Garth Brooks Concert in Fresno with our youngest son and his wife, when they invited us youād think it was 1965 and somebody was taking us to see the Beatles.
