So, I’m probably gonna have some people all up in a tizzy, but I didn’t pretreat the hemp. 
I just wicked my Boreas with it, put in some of @therabidweasel’s Pearvana cuz it’s already slightly woody, and vaped. So far, so good. About 2/3 of a tanks worth of an extra bit of earthy vibe, then back to normal.
This stuff is a little softer and whiter than the stuff from before if I’m remembering correctly. It’s also a little more “flavorful.” The stuff before was pretty much flavorless after an ml or so. The hemp will probably outlast my coils so that bag is going to last me the rest of my life. LOL

Neither did I, I just wicked exactly like I would cotton. The “hemp taste” was gone after a dozen drags and that was the end of it. Juice does seem a bit more flavorful and you can pack more wick into a coil than you can with cotton. It doesn’t seem to dry hit even if you use a lot of hemp but on TC I don’t expect to dry hit much anyway.

hahaha well that’s half the reason why I didn’t pretreat. Unlike some people I know who go ridiculously overboard. 
No vodka in the house and I didn’t feel like waiting until I could get some. And I’m lazy.

Awesome to see people are having positive experiences.
As I say elsewhere, the break in flavor is there, but not a big deal. Im not sure the vodka is necessary, it’s just something I can do easily. I believe a good rinse in hot water is probably more than adequate for most people.
Vodka USC and hot water and you will definitely have no break in flavor.

I started using hemp with a mag. switched copper mech and 25R4s…I noticed immediately that it held up to heat way better than cotton and blew it away on flavor.
With TC, it just stops making vape. I don’t even get a flavor change.

I mean when you run out of juice. I apologize. I remember every post in this thread and assume everyone else does too sometimes. No dude, it works great on a mech, so its killer on TC.
Your wick will work great for an entire month or you can return the unused portion for a full refund. Haha. Mechs are super-hard on wicks, which is how I found hemp. TC being gentle, hemp rules.

Well I’ve got some hemp! Thanks to the man that seams to have started this at least in part, @therabidweasel, now I need to figure this out. I seem to remember to kind of prep making the hemp softer and have less of a flavor.

There are various methods that I use, including using straight from the bag, but here are the methods from best to definitely adequate, I do these the the built and wicked atomizer…be sure to wash your hands and clean your wire no matter what wick you use:
-
Hot (50C) USC in vodka or grain alcohol 30 min, rinse in hot tap water, pulse dryish

Shake in small bottle of room temp vodka from 10s to whenever, rinse in hot tap water, pulse dryish

Rinse in hot tap water (or boil then rinse) pulse dryish

Juice and fire for however long you want

Build and vape, flavor clears in 2-5ml
The more you fire the build, the softer it becomes. Wicking performance and flavor typically improve for about 2 days.
Again, I recommend smooth wire and spaced coils as fancy coils A) aren’t needed because this wick works so well and B) hemp will outlast any wire, including smooth.

Sorry for bringing this thread back from the dead. I saw mention of hemp wicking in another thread and I honestly didn’t know it was a thing. I did a quick Google search to see if I could source some and it brought me here lol. Thanks for all the info! I’m definitely going to be trying some after healing from holiday shopping lol. Has anyone tried any other brands than the ones discussed here that are closer in price to cotton?

Threads don’t die here, no worries. I’m extremely busy this month, but I’ll try to send samples promptly on Saturdays if you PM me and agree to my conditions above. I am just a guy that loves this wick, no more. I still have a ton. It’s far cheaper than cotton and when you consider longevity.

Hi,
some hemp and bamboo arrived. To clean it, i put it in vodka, usc @ 50°C for about half a hour, then hot water, then dry it. Is that right?
Is there any experience with bamboo?

I “clean” builds one at a time so I just pulse them dryish and start vaping.
