I tried watching Sense 8. Made it as far as the one chick doing the other with a strap on. I couldnāt get past that gratuitous display and so I stopped there. Iāve heard itās a good show but to me thatās just tawdry for the sake of being tawdry.

I know what you mean, I think that scene was down to the Wachowskis (producers)
I have seen more graphic scenes in other shows and as there were not many (compared to other shows) I could get passed them.
The story is good and the way the show hops around the world kept me watching.
I donāt want to spoil it for those who have not seen it but I found myself laughing and sometimes I must admit, a tear in my eye.
If you can give it another go but just skip that scene.

Oh I thought this might be a Goosebumps-esque kids show. But your review and a quick spoiler-free Google seem to suggest otherwise. Plus I love Winona Ryder. 
Itās been a year since I watched it, but I donāt recall it being more tawdry than any Hollywood sex scene or show with major and varied sexual themes like Game of Thrones or True Blood. This show is very sexually charged, and a lot of it is non-traditional (or with seriously blurred lines). That should be put out as a huge disclaimer for anyone who is squeamish about sex scenes, especially if gay sex is extra-taboo for them. I mean some people hardly like to think about LGBTetc doing anything let alone what they do in private, and they would likely have a very difficult time with this series. But if that sort of thing doesnāt even bother you, then yes, it IS a fantastic show. 2nd season is right around the corner too.

Watched āThe Last Kingdomā on netflix. Arguably better than Vikings tbh 
loved it.
Just started āBetweenā on netflix tonight watched the first episode with my lady. It seems like it could turn into a pretty interesting show. Will have to wait and see how it develops, but so far it is good.

Well I donāt know about being squeamish. Itās just Iām not into voyeurism and if the entertainment value relies on sex scenes, gay or otherwise, then it must be porn.

I may be clutching at straws trying to convince you to give the show another go but the āstrap-onā scene could be described as important to the plot as

one of the women was once a man and so the use of the sex aid proved that she had the full operation
It has been a while since I watched it, I can only recall that scene and 1 other, this other scene also adds to the plot by showing their powers are getting stronger.
If you are still not convinced then i can suggest Helix, Vikings, The Strain, The Man In The High Castle and The Last Kingdom.
Iāll probably give it another goā¦especially come winter. I did start watching Stranger Things recommended by @MisterSinner Only got through the first couple of episodes but yeah, itās good! Thanks Mr.
