No doubt. We’ve got to go through a lot to find what works. Kind of like life.
Wow, this thread took on it’s OWN life here, hehe.
I don’t follow any mixers, or DIY’ers on line, even Noted, so I can’t comment on that. As you guys know, I do a shit ton of testing, mostly flavors, but equipment as well. I have no clue WHO I actually do it for, but I do it for EVERYONE. I know full and well, not everyone has the same tastes, likes, palates, even patience levels for certain things, so all I do, is review in regards to MY perceptions of whatever it is, I’m reviewing. I know, like in the case of @fidalgo_vapes not everyone will agree, and that’s actually a GOOD THING IMO. I like dissention, and positive criticism. It’s actually a GOOD reminder, that just because I, or we perceive something one way, doesn’t mean EVERYONE does. Never a bad reminder to have.
Like @fidalgo_vapes, it is for them, but not exclusively them, it’s for mid-level, and seasoned veterans as well. It is almost impossible to cater to ALL levels at one time.
I was just reading in another thread about testing to see if you’re a non-taster/regular/super-taster. The fact that the population is split into a 1:2:1 ratio (if memory serves) between these types illustrates what you said about how people have different tastes and palates.

“Oh Lord… What’s he gonna go off on this time?” lol
Getting vaguely back on topic, I compared my Google Doc to my ELR Flavor Stash, flavor-by-flavor. I found that in addition to the several dozen flavors missing in my ELR Flavor Stash, I’d incorrectly listed flavors in my Doc. Initially, I thought I was missing FA’s “White Peach” until I realized it was supposed to be “Peach, White.” I ran into the same thing with FA’s “Fresh Cream” vs. “Cream, Fresh,” as well as some others.
I had FA’s regular Peach in my Doc, but not my Stash. I didn’t know if it was a missing or an incorrectly named flavor. I ended up going through pages of invoices trying to find out if I really had it. (This seemed easier than digging out the box under my desk and sifting through all of the bottles - there’s got to be an easier way!) I also found two flavors in my Stash that I don’t even own. I’m not sure how that happened.
Which brings me to wonder what do you use to label your bottles of concentrates to make identification easier? Also, what labels do you use for your juice? I was just browsing around and saw they make water-resistant labels. But they seem to be the sort that once they’re on, they’re never going to come off. The removable ones seem like a better choice, but I didn’t know if they’d come off too easily. (I’d appreciate it if you would recommend label sizes for both concentrates and juices).
Now that I’m gone through my Doc, I’m realizing why the other people’s Docs I’ve seen don’t have a separate column for flavor brands like mine does. The way I have it is great for sorting, but for this comparison, it was difficult to tell at a glance which flavor belonged to which brand. It was particularly difficult since there are multiple flavors with the same name. FL_Vaper’s Doc
I think I’m going to go back through and add each brand’s abbreviation after each flavor so I can quickly see what is what while retaining the brand column for sorting. e.g. Cream, Fresh (FA)/FA/notes
If anyone can recommend additional columns for me to add to my Doc, don’t be shy - speak up! (As if shyness is a problem around here)
@FL_Vaper mine is similiar to yours, except I sum total ml into one value, that way I just subtract from it, when I move from storage into working bottles. 100% on the MFG names, without that, it would be insanity. Sorting is always a plus. You’ll have to decide on anything else you want to add, as everyone’s system is different. I use HotRod’s Juice Calc for realtime inventory tracking, but I’m considering adding another column to the right for re-stock levels, but would only be for show, as HotRod’s is already setup.
I started off with printing labels, then moved on to a label printer. Fuck all that, I now using masking tape. It’s so much easier.
On my spreadsheet I have a page that lists by flavor type. That way if I want something particular, say a dark berry or a cream, I just go to that category and see what I have. I go at least 3 weeks between each mixing session and I have a tendency to forget what I have.
I have the different volumes so I’ll know I have more than bottle and to look for it when the first runs out. Those were mostly from Black Friday sales, although I managed to do it again just last week.
Since I have yet to dive into the deep end of DIY (I’m still in the kiddie pool), subtracting totals is something I hadn’t even considered, but it certainly makes sense. I’ve also seen Docs that include prices of the bottles, but I’m afraid to find out just how much I’ve spent so far. Ignorance is bliss in this case.
I see you have your flavors listed like mine, without the brand abbreviation next to the name. Maybe I should leave it as is. I definitely don’t look forward to going through and adding them. It would have made comparing my Flavor Stash to my Doc a LOT easier if I’d had it that way, but I don’t know if it’d be useful in the future.
I like that. Easier is def better! Does the tape come off the bottles easily, or do you just tape over the tape? I figure for SFT I’m gonna be using a LOT of 10ml bottles, but they’ll eventually get reused. I don’t want a label that’s gonna obscure the juice, but I also want to be able to read the label. Considering how bad my eyesight is, I was looking at labels that were 1.5" in height. But anything of that size was 2.5-3"" long, which would wrap completely around a bottle, wouldn’t it?
Do you use tape for concentrate bottles, too? I didn’t know if I should look for those little circular labels meant for Essential Oils. They seem so damned SMALL! I don’t know how much info can be put on them and still be readable.
Masking tape doesn’t leave residue, as a rule, so I just peel it off. That’s what drove me nuts about labels as it was a pain getting it off. I write with pens and the ink will eventually run from the slight dripping. I just write on it again.
Why would you want to put your flavors into different bottles?
That’s what Sharpies are for! (At least I hope Sharpies will be resistant to juice. They stand up to pretty much everything.
I didn’t mean I wanted to rebottle my concentrates. I meant I wanted to label them more clearly so I can see what they are without picking them up and squinting at them. I have Progressive glasses, but in spite of that, I inevitably have to drop them down my nose in order to read anything. I thought some sort of color-coding system would help at least a little bit.
I get it. That’ll be tough on the 10 ml bottles but the others should be fine. Tape and pen with large letters should do it. I normally take off all the labels of my flavors. I like to surprise myself when I mix.
Probably not the best approach for a Novice. While I’m sure AP + WS-23 + Vape Wizard would undoubtedly make for an interesting juice, it’s not one I’d want to vape. (Maybe if 10% Super Sweet was added?)
Disagreement and proper debate are wonderful. It’s how we learn and grow as human beings, hopefully. We don’t always have to agree. Be a bloody boring world if everyone agreed on everything all of the time.
This seems to have been a disagreement about something you both pretty much agree on anyway. Perhaps I’m missing something.
We have " vaping shills?" SMH.
The more I come across you, the more I like you. Respect.
