The mixing is certainly half the fun and I have definitely been where you are in regards to tipping mixes down the drain when I first started. Took me a while to get my juice to where I like it, especially as I have compromised taste buds.
Experimentation is key, doing single flavour tests can certainly help you get an idea of your flavours. Because you use a pod device, I agree with McDuckie about using an RDA for testing however as you have dexterity issues, perhaps look for a tight MTL tank with cheapish replaceable coils for testing. Perhaps a Innokin Adept Zlide kit which would include a mod. Use either the Zenith 0.8 or 1.2 coils depending on which type you use in your Oxva. Then, as was mentioned for testing with you pod, you can just use this to test by filling just enough to wet the coil properly.
For myself, I have found that strawberry ripe is a great flavour, however it is known to mute when used high, so I would try to use it a little lower (10 - 12 %) and add INW Shisha Strawberry at 3 - 4% to boost it.
CAP New York Cheesecake is one of my favs and I use it around 8 to 10% in 2 - 3 favour mixes. Takes time to steep for me
INW Shisha Vanilla is a good one, I use it to accent CAP Vanilla Custard V1 at around 2% with the Custard around 10% in a mix.
TFA Graham Crust I use as an accent, usually around 2 - 4%, but I reckon TFA Cheesecake with Graham Crust is richer and more useful at 6 - 10% in mixes.
I only vape MTL style at highish (1 - 1.7) ohms at 7 to 8 watts, but I use RTA’s.
@Ianc13 hi and thanks for all the suggestions. I didn’t know tfa did a cheesecake as well. Those percentages and mixing tips are really helpful thanks. I have actually been reading up for days on various mtl tanks etc and the innokin zlide was one I looked at. To be honest I also like the look of the compact boro box mods and ones with a stock coil option. They looked decent flavour like the rta rda but without the weight and separate tank on top. I use the 0.8 coil in oxva only as that came with it and I like the flavour and cloud it produces. I’ve dropped it numerous times so am amazed it still works.
Pouring the liquids down the drain I’ve got the hang of now!! But I wont be making anything larger up again after the advice on here . I am finding this whole diy thing a little obsessive!!! Constantly looking things up and browsing flavours I have a pretty serious health condition and since getting into the vaping hobby it’s taken my mind off the serious stuff and feels like I am the happiest I have been since being diagnosed.
Thanks everyone for making me feel welcome and for the advice. I enjoy the forum a lot.
And @Ianc13 I am sorry about your taste buds situation. That must make flavourings difficult to know and judge. I made up fhe cerberus custard from darkstar and its come up well and is very nice. It was a way to practice for me and have something to vape and not pour away!
I’ve just ventured down the Boro Rabbit Hole @Cornish_Holly and picked up a Pixel AIO Boro Kit By Vaperz Cloud from Evolution. Got to say I’m impressed so far using their stock 0.80ohm coils at 15w
The flavour from Oxva Pods is very good compared to most pods but I’ve just started using an Innokin Endura V Pod kit. They’re very good with bakery/dessert flavours and cheaper than an Oxva!
@Max_Flavour ha I too have been considering a boro the Vaperz Cloud x san gerobak because from everything I’ve read the flavour is excellent and has a wide choice of coils including vaporesso and voopoo in the tank. I thought that way I can also experiment with different coils and ratio liquids. The Oxva Vprime new pod mod kit is due out around now too. The battery on the oxva Xlim is not lasting me all day at all but the vprime is 2600 I think from memory so that should do!!
Is the boro box suitable for someone who is pretty new to vaping (7 months!), not complicated to fill or set up or change coils? I liked that you didn’t have to use a rebuildable set up which isnt gonna work for me. Do u think the flavour is better than a pod kit. I do think oxva pod flavour is very good, just wanted a boro box!! Done too much research my brain feels overloaded now! Glad u managed to get yourself one
The Pixel has the same Shift Boro as the Sans. The main difference is the Pixel has a built in 3000mAh battery. Todd has done a great review of it on YouTube which would be useful to watch. But imo yes the Pixel is easy to use/fill. Flavour is certainly good.
Better than a pod? Only you can answer that, but I did buy another and a couple of spare Boros!!
@Max_Flavour I didn’t realise that it had an internal battery for the Pixel. That’s better for me I think. More reviews…!! I watched Todd’s review on the gerobak one! Thanks.
