This was a childhood favorite. Was happy to see the interest reignited with it being part of the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack.
Once you hear it, you’re good for the day.

One of my favorite songs!
Only Mark can write with such clarity and sophistication about human fallibility and miseries and still give you hope that there might be room for improvement! :hearts:

I hereby find you… Acceptable.

I like to play, “Don’t crash the ambulance” for friends. They think it’s a stupid song. I think it’s well done. Whataya think the song is about?

My all time favorite song PERIOD. Of any other bands.

Love the typical guitar work, his voice and often times it makes me cry.

Great song for sure!

As far as I know the song is about Bush Father telling Bush son how to rule the US government, and telling that whatever he does, protect himself of big problems that can not be solved; here, obviously, the ambulance is a metaphor for something that provides you with assistance, in which case it is always better to have it available rather than risk having no way out with some hasty choice.

We have not forget that Mark was a journalist before dedicating himself fully to music, and his writing style is certainly deeply influenced by this style; he often draws inspiration, more or less openly, from current events, even from the past, and reports or reworks them into wonderful songs.

I always thought it was a metaphor for “everything is running great, don’t screw it up”

I see that like any good fan, you’ve done some research as well.

Have you heard anything by his brother?

He’s made some great songs, but unfortunately I can’t listen to him. It sounds like an imitation of Mark or someone trying to mock him. It’s a shame, but I just can’t! :disappointed_relieved:

Orbit Culture out of Sweden. Haven’t really listened to their newest release, but their cover of Hardwired is better than the original IMO.https://youtu.be/xbCN0714LdI?si=hv3b1kXbf1w0CpMJ

The Cult, A Cut Inside (Under the Midnight Sun, 2022)

… …
They will hold you
Bind and choke you
Caught in the lie
Tears in my eyes
Thorns of this life
Cut inside
No heathens in Heaven
No sweet surrender
Outsiders forever
The ghost of our lives

Mortality may loom, but there’s colour in the black and flowers on the grave.” (Andrew Trendell)

The Cure, Endsong (Songs Of A Lost World, 2024)

And I’m outside in the dark
Staring at the blood red moon
Remembering the hopes and dreams I had
And all I had to do
And wondering what became of that boy
And the world he called his own
I’m outside in the dark
Wondering how I got so old
It’s all gone, it’s all gone
Nothing left of all I loved
It all feels wrong
It’s all gone, it’s all gone, it’s all gone
No hopes, no dreams, no world
No, I, I don’t belong
No, I don’t belong here
It’s all gone, it’s all gone
I will lose myself in time
It won’t be long
It’s all gone, it’s all gone, it’s all gone
Left alone with nothing at the end of every song
Left alone with nothing at the end of every song
Left alone with nothing
Nothing
Nothing
Nothing
