Im not sure what actually happened to Gary? He completely wiped his channel & all social media ties. The last i heard he still hadnt responded to anyone, even to text mesages to his personal phone number. I briefly spoke with ChasingClouds&flavorReviews (aka Chasing69) & he said he had sent him various whatsapp messages & gary never even opened them, this was sometime last year i believe?
Edit - i do believe his reason for departure may have been something to do with being completely demonetized on youtube though? I could be wrong?
I used to really enjoy watching the recipe reviews too i do wish there was still people doing them.

Do you know anyone who still does recipe reviews from around in youtube?
I am new to DIY and from where am at, i need to import all flavorings and its not practical to create recipes on my own so going with the expert recipes here but having a review like what gary does does help out with a lot of noice.
Hopefully he will be back someday and hope gary is in good health

Thanks for the response @SessionDrummer Unfortunately none of these videos seems to be playable from the archive. A goldmine of 250 plus DIY review videos, shud have covered atleast 800 recipes. Damn unfortunate

Hes a lovely lad too, such a shame.
He literally spent thousands to set up the whole youtube recipe reviews stuff & had to call it off due to health reasons.
I can confirm that he is OK though.

God bless him. Is there any chance you can convince him to just have the channel active as its such an amazing archive. Especially with the new vape tax in UK, many would need help with DIY. He dont have to make anything new, the old itself was gold. used to spend hours watching his content

yes I loved watching his reviews, Gary was an awesome dude and he even did a bunch of mine at one point. Next best thing is watching rerun’s of DIYORDIE’s midweek critque which was even better then Gary’s reviews. Sadly Wayne is too busy now with his family and kind of given up on his channel it seems. But back in the day those live midweek critque streams were the best shit going. Hopefully someone new emerges and carries the torch.

I suppose the only problem is the general setup and running cost of a channel like that, with youtube policies and monetization being what it is, or perhaps more accurately, what it isn’t! there really isn’t much in it for anyone, It would be have to be a labour of love for someone who has the time on their hands to do it and would probably rely a lot on donations, patreon or otherwise. A lot of people, especially these day’s, just don’t have the disposable cash to be a regular supporter, those that do are too few. That said, I don’t know whether the increased interest in DIY that I would personally project for the coming year, especially with whats coming, will change that, I’m not sure.

yes I would love to see Elon Musk buy out google and youtube. I know lots of people hate him but he is all about free speech. Youtube back in the day was the best ever before the morons took over and ruined all the fun. I only go on X now cause its the only form of media not censored by the snakes at the top.

Yes, X is gaining a lot of traction, I have noticed, the only problem for me is this isn’t my only hobbie and a lot of the associated content creators haven’t made the switch, so I find myself having to stick with youtube a lot, at least for now anyways.

Welcome to working for yourself! Running your own business is like this in many industries.
Content creation has always required months or years of unnapreciated work before you get to a level of bringing money in. I can tell you what doesn’t help though; pulling all your videos down because you’ve decided you don’t want to give back to the community anymore. Lol. That’s weird when people do that. Just leave them up.

Yes, I thought exactly that, I’m glad I’m not the only one. Does seem there was a degree of throwing the toys out of the pram in that choice, but then we don’t know if there was a reason for it, I’m trying to imagine a scenario in which someone has to dissasociate themselves from something like that, I can’t think of one but I guess that doesn’t mean there isn’t one. Just wish he could of offered up an explanation to his loyal followers.
