our local shop sells this very cherry and vanilla x and she mixes them together but since i make my own she wants me to try and make something similar. im thiking
black cherry
simply vanilla
and maybe a few other vanilla flavors, but i dont want to over power it with vanilla. whats a good vanilla base you guys use. once helped i will post final recipe to ELR and maybe u guys can rate them. Thank You

Imo Caps Simply Vanilla , Medicine Flower Vanilla , GremlinDIY Vanilla Overload top the list but I am going to order the DIY Flavor Shack Holy Vanilla as it has been said to be great.

I love the Gremlin Vanilla Overload ,it is a base made to use singly but I like it in mixes as well at 3-4%

dang almost 10 for a 30 oz bottle of it too!!! and i have caps simply vanilla, but i just dont want the cherry flav to be over powered by vanilla, and vice versa. I may just have to make alot and see what happens.

ive been trying to make the same thing , but a cherry cupcake , its a hard flavor to deal with @Amy2 warned me so i mix two cherries blavk cherry FA and marachino cherry tpa , the TPA cherry seems pretty strong , im about to order flavorah bing and rainier cherries try to make a cherry base ( stone )
bc individually they dont work well

i dont think of myself as a pro , but what i did is took the UM clone and subbed out the starwberry with the cherry still needs another week to steep than i will know , the reason i did this is bc i love that recipe but the straw is weak basically i know the other flavors at that percentage work well together with a fruit ill let you know how good the cherry is , the things i was making were CRAP but i was winging it with no notes or small samples i started everything i used at the recommended percentages that didnt go well so this is my way of testing the cherry besides the single flavor testing

i have a notebook that takes me forever to find info in because im constantly writing notes or marking down things people say on here or the notes on the flavs from the recipes. talk about notebook overload

Seeing as I have no experience with a “good” cherry flavor my suggestion would be to use the best 5 star custard recipe on this site and use one of those as your vanilla base. it would be rich and really nice.
then I would “flavor it” with Cherry.
This Black Cherry at ECX has 14 reviews and is highly rated. I’m seeing a usage level on this site for 4% as an average for adding it to a mix. That would be how “I” personally would approach it.

I would begin with two cherry flavors and two vanilla flavors for the base and tweak it from there.
No crust, custard, cream, etc.
I would start with 2% of each cherry and each vanilla. 8% total

89 degrees here but been humid and just realized we have an air quality alert, never seen that one before
Cherry is a very hard flavor to work with, and I haven’t worked with it a lot. I plan on getting RF Cherry Pie soon to try as I’ve seen a few good reviews. Most come out like medicine. My all time favorite vanilla is INW Shisha Vanilla… It’s a brighter vanilla. I have heard FS Holy Vanilla is amazing as well, but supposedly a heavier darker vanilla like bourbon vanilla or extract.

i agree and in school i was a horrible note taker , so lately i have taken one or two recipes to work on until complete

@ozo is right i was starting things like that at 5% then working my way down thw whole 5 rule ya know , now i truly believe woking from a low percent up is the way to go , achieving a recipe that is strong in taste at the lowest percentage possible is my goal
