Any small and compact torch that runs a decent LED is gonna get pretty warm without proper cooling. Ive got a bunch of Ultrafire WF502b’s, i know fire in the tittle and all that. These do get a bit warm when using the high beam mode but i have beat the crap out of them and not a single one has failed. They have 5 modes, high, low and three strobe modes but they do not remember what mode they were in when you turn it off for more than a few seconds.
The claim 1000lm on those torches but it isnt anywhere near that tho they are VERY VERY bright, enough to permanently damage your eyes. I have some cheap 3/4 cell torches and they are insanely bright.
Now those are low end lights, if you want something good, real good, then check out illumn. The difference will be better quality everything, from the LEDs to the form factor and cooling.
