The truth about #teamfreeshit

We know they are in it for the money, IDK if the only solution to that might be to move “off the grid”.
My wife and I make a good pair in our oppositeness, Im near sighted and she is farsighted, I can hunt and she can cook. Our oppositeness goes on and on. Good oppositeness!
But when it comes to reviews, it bothers me that I took so much time out of my life to review a device and some redditor has the nerve to create multiple accounts just to harass and degrade me. Bad oppositeness!
Maybe for future reviews I should track my time and include price/hours=(review income) information, but if I do that I may want to quit.

What the hell? That sounds like an episode of some paranormal show. Some twisted dweeb attach itself to you? That’s just psycho.

I’m not really a reviewer, just a hobbyist with spare time on my hands.
My reviews are just a public service.
Lucky for us just half my reddit votes are -1’s the other half are +1’s, so I think it is kinda like mankind’s pulse, just half the world are psychos heh. I’m glad to be part of this community, I don’t feel the same about the folks here at ELR, even the aliens and ogres are human here
(or at least I try to be)

I read through this post and found it very enlightening to say the least. I rely on reviewers at ELR a great deal. I go to ELR for information all the time. Thank you to all the people here on ELR that share their knowledge and expertise. Most people (including me) have no idea what work goes into reviewing a product. Thanks again and again!

As someone who occasionally puts up random babblings of words, tactically hidden in between photographs, thank you @Penelope1.

I’ve had a few co-workers (who aren’t even ELR members, but come here when I put up a review, and KNOW what’s involved) ask me why I do reviews ??

I can’t compete with some of the heavy hitters here, but I know that I actually got BURNED by a few BIG named review/reviewers on YouTube. Watched the videos, seemed to make sense, ordered some products, got them, tested them, and was LESS than happy. Went back, watched the reviews again, and said, “F this”. That’s what motivated me. LOL, because it’s NOT really worth the money for anything you actually get, as the amount of time and work FAR exceed any value received IMO. I wanted to see something reviewed the way I wanted to see it LOL. When reading reviews, I’m not interested in micrometers, or sometimes the smallish, granular detail, but just good pics, honest pro’s con’s, maybe who something might work, etc., and a fair conclusion, that’s all.

I cheated on my last review, but I just wanted to let everyone know what a great product it was.
and it saved me 3-5 days of time, I could use mixing, tweaking, testing, creating recipes !!!

lmao at far right minion… that lil guy looks nigh’ unto porny. Too funny. As for reviewers, to my mind, some are better, some are worse, after all it clearly takes time and practice and lots of gear to put one together as professionally as ya’ll do… but ALL are doing the vaping community a service. I have very very limited vape dollars, and flat out cannot imagine spending them based only on the marketing campaigns of the mod/gear companies. Bleh. I’d end up with a mess of unvapable crap. I totally, absolutely depend on reviewers to weight in before I buy just about anything. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: We heart you, reviewers.

Jeez, I thought this was a “sign over your soul and give us a credit card number and we’ll send you a free vape band” type of thing. Didn’t know it was a “I need to vent before I lose my shit” thread (I like those. I’m sick). Anyway, I do appreciate the reviews and reviewers here on ELR. You SOBs have cost me A LOT of money.
I trust you guys and gals and your opinions. More here than YouTube or any other site. I have done a couple of reviews on here, and it isn’t as easy as some may think. It takes a lot of time and a bit of talent which isn’t always in synchronization.
I gave it a shot and found it just wasn’t for me. I’d rather place my trust in you and let you all con me into spending my money.
I appreciate the reviews and how each personalizes their presentations. I hope you all keep it up or I’ll have to spend my money on cat toys and such (don’t even have a cat).

Do it!! If you latch on to something good, do a review. Doesn’t have to be on par with the professional reviewers who sell a show as much as anything. Just point out the details that make it good, or bad for that matter. The flow of products is daunting and we all know they all have quirks and strong points. It is just super helpful at least to me to have someone post what they think.

I really prefer watching someone with under 1k or even 400 view channels… seems to me more honest, and a lot better than the yes men and women out there too… You know you can spot them, with tons of reviews and never a bad thing to say… the “cons” are minimal.

Ya, there’s a double edged sword there. If you want to build a channel and make reviewing an income, you pretty much have to be flattering for the most part. I did my best to be truthful and the folks that were sending me things cut me off. That’s not a complaint because the whole thing was getting old. I had the equipment to do the reviews and thought I would give it a crack. It was fun for awhile. I got to resent one coming in the mail. Especially as more and more were pods.

I think that is what is flooring me already @SmilingOgre… all I see now days is pods and aios… I get they want new folks to come into vaping, but I think they are forgetting the folks that have been around and we want more than 1-2ml pod tanks and we all hate buying coils. I dunno… almost tempting to get into building myself. ha. If I had enough time, I would.

Pods are real money makers. They get a huge amount of money for the juice they provide as well as the pods. Kinda like the razor blade industry. Give away the handle. The money is in the disposables. I love building like I do mixing my own juice. Between the two I get flavor you can’t touch off the shelf. It is also fun to me to try different things and experiment.

Oh BTW, I got the mix I was looking for. Really simple mix but really tasty. 4% FA forest mix, 1.7% INW cactus, and .7% sweetener.
