As an emoji novice, I must ask. Is there some hidden language built into these things?
I was looking over the shoulder of someone on their phone and they just had 
the things 
all over the place in a row but very very few words.
I mean, I ‘get’ the smiley faces and sad faces etc…and the “om”

How about something simple and more easily understood. We are just supposed to help when we can. Why not a helping hand emblem?
Example:
Upper - right-hand corner of the badge tells you how many times you have been awarded it, I think.
If you put your mouse pointer on the badge, it shows what the label is.
Green eye - Reviewer
Blue thingy - Changed to Olive thingy - Forum Founder
Orange Shield - Staffer

When you are looking at your own badge page, each badge that you have been awarded more than once will show how many times you’ve been awarded that particular badge in the upper right-hand corner. If you click on that badge, at the bottom of that page in the left corner, you will be shown how many others have received that badge.
