100/200mg nic question

Yeah I’m not worried about the handling, lots of acids I handle at work regularly. Proper ppe and management.

One thing to keep in mind, when you are breaking down your NIC into smaller bottles. Most times, you’re pulling the big bottles right out of the freezer, and breaking it down. You want to make SURE, to leave maybe even one inch of headspace (gap between the top of the NIC, and the top of the bottle, because you don’t want expansion to cause issues.

When I FIRST started buying NIC, I topped the bottles almost all the way up, and had like 20 bottles I was breaking down into. Icy cold NIC, and obviously it started to thaw/warm as I was working my way through filling all the smaller bottles. I capped each on, and moved onto the next. I was almost done, had like 5 bottles left, and started sliding the other ones over, and the bottles clink, clinked against each other, and one SHATTERED !!!

YES.

So, hehe, leave around one inch of headspace in each bottle before capping.

I LOVE sharing my mistakes @Oldguynew2diy, that way you, and others don’t have to re-live them yourselves.

Why were you pressurizing a bottle?

I always told new mixers using 100mg for the first time to be cautious but not scared. With 100mg you really want to pay attention and tey not to get it on your skin but dont be scared like it will kill you and be extra nervous around it.Being nerrvous using it is more likely to spill it. 100mg is not very dangerous if you get a drop or two on your skin. You wont notice any effect. If you spill a whole bottle on you prob a different story and you will prob feel sick for a little bit. Anything over 500mg though it getss pretty dangerous to handle. When companies like FA handle pure nic 1000mg they do so in dedicated ventilation rooms with suits and respirators.

Can’t even imagine that high a mic content. I think I should be fine with the 100mg, basically 5x what I’m using now…5x more juice. I’ll definitely be careful…definitely not afraid of it for sure. Just have to respect the process.

@natbone inadvertently. As the -35F NIC started to warm, it expanded inside the tightly capped bottle. Had I left some headspace it would have compressed the air, but instead, it indeed started pressurizing the bottle.

Been mixing since 2015, and hoarding a supply since sometime mid 2015. Back when the vape Armageddon/prohibition was a threat I stocked up, with the thought that even if nicotine would still be available, the price was surely to inflate. It turned out to be a good decision as all of the nicotine I squirreled away is still very clear and tasty. My wife was never thrilled about the amount of space I have taken in the freezer (I never did get around to buying a dedicated freezer, but have considered a number of times). The worst experience I have had is when we lost power for 8 days after hurricane Milton, but even in the dark warm freezer my nicotine is still in excellent shape.

Not to hijack the thread with anecdotal information that is relatively not germane to the threads question, I always have purchased 100mg, mostly in PG. I read a lot and there is a difference in opinion regarding shelf life of VG versus PG base, but honestly VG is a PIA to work with, given the shaking after being in the freezer (which makes it fairly necessary to let it warm a little). I have broken my several gallons down to amber/cobalt 500 and 1000ml bottles for the most part, a couple liters I left in the original “plastic” bottles (HDPE/LDPE/PET) and they seem pretty fine too.

I recall when I first started mixing and stressing about working with 100mg, and used gloves…but that only lasted a couple months. Getting a little on your hands just requires washing them off. I remember the time I spilled about 50mls all over my shirt and stripped down and ran to the shower. (It is pretty funny to this day). Anyway I agree with everyone here about being a little more careful with 200ml, but I would more so worry about it splashing like into your eyes or something, then getting a little on your habds (just wash). Lastly, make sure you mix without kids or pets in the room.

Finally, sorry for the long winded tales but I just realized (in the last several months) that putting some base in a 60ml chubby gorilla bottle and in the freezer as my working nic, makes it so much easier to mix and weigh out, then the eye droppers that I used to use (for small batch mixes). For adv type 200ml batches or more, I now just pour from one of my 500ml to get close to weight and finish with my working 60ml chubby squeeze bottle.

Thank for the info. Definitely going to be breaking down. Just have to read up on doing so, also…get more bottles.

I’ve been using HILIQ and the quality is great. Have 1 liter bottle of 200mg/ml stuck in the Canada Post fiasco, but it has cleared customs and was on the brink of getting delivered when the strike started… o well. As for handling, I am careful and no problems so far.

Oooh. Good to know. I was leary about going with the 200mg because of customs. Glad to know it can get in.

I just placed a 200mg order with them during the free shipping event
its actually coming in by UPS so the strike shouldn’t affect me
its still possible to get an unlucky random customs check but at this time of month it’s less likely and 100mg would still be seiZed limit is 65mg and that could be seiZed regardless
I can confirm if it gets through but it probably won’t be for a few weeks
im in canada too

for freeZing i would reccomend boston round bottles with poly caps
you can also dilute with PG to slow down oxidation

Mine also will also be UPS, so I’m hoping it makes it through just fine. Just don’t want to purchase to 20 mg that is allowed here.Fingers crossed.
