A chemist's advice: Don't Dry-Burn your coil

I recall reading similar info when I started (3 years ago).

I use SS single wire coils, dry burn at 5 watts, rinse and scrub with small brush if reusing a coil and only reuse once. Normal vaping wattage is @ 22 watts.

This statement from the article sums it up for me “Despite the above, there is still no reason to think that a dry-burn would make vaping worse than smoking.”

From what I understand this article is referring to the older prebuilt coil heads. Remember when there was the question about using ceramic in the Nauti coil heads? When was that, 2014-15? Anyway, I try to use the least power necessary to dry burn, then I use a small SS wire brush to brush off the debris and polish it up with a softer brass brush. Sounds a bit OCD but I like the look of a clean, shiny coil :grinning:

This report was from 2016. Thats a long time ago in vaping years. I also wouldn’t trust these reports as its all stats.
