A little test with washing store bought coils

If anyone remembers a few years back (7-10) some people on YouTube had posted how they could wash their sub-ohm coils (store bought)
Well being bored and having a little clear liquid that comes in a mason jar 190 proof i tried to see what would happen so i washed the coil for 20 min, and let it dry

The coil was good and gunked up

At the end the coil really doesn’t look cleaner, not without brushing something over the coil mesh to knock the gunk off.
My precious in the jar has a amber tent now, Did not effect the taste of it, still burns going down and back up😀 i went ahead and juiced the coil up and tried it,
A little of the flavor came back and for how long, i dont know. Still playing with it. See what boredom does

No moonshine was harmed

Taere are many who swear by their methods, but to date, I haven’t found any that work to my satisfaction. Every single method I’ve tried tastes like crap. If you can’t take it apart and replace the cotton, don’t even bother. One of the reasons I won’t buy a subohm that I can’t use an RBA on.

Thats funny, if i was to drink all this I’d be so far out there I’d be lost, I sure wouldn’t be able to see any fingers  :upside_down_face:

We tried drinking bong water once to see what would happen. Other than retching for 30 seconds a mental note was made that this was a particularly dumb idea.

In the UK, we’d class it as the dangers of minesweeping : There’s always one who thinks he’s still too sober and tries the part empty cans before leaving - obviously, some will have cigarette buts in them.

It’s been years since I’ve had the pleasures of tasting a warm beer with a cigarette butt or two in it, now i have a bad taste in my mouth :triumph::rofl:
That should be a rite of passage

Reminds me when I went out clubbing as a teenager and drank from a friend’s cup, thinking it was coke. It was actually chew juice. I still have involuntary retches when I think about it, lol.

I’ve been washing and reusing FreeMax coils for years, single mesh coils. Probably got hundreds if not thousands of them, but I don’t let them get too gunked up like that tho…

I’ve been washing my coils for 10 years. I just use rubbing alcohol. Put them in a jar with the alcohol, swish them around a bit and let them sit for overnight, swish them around a bit in the morning then put them in a window in the sun for 24 hours and they are good to go,. I only do it once or twice then get new. The only flavor that never leaves the coil that I have found is cinnamon. It never goes away.

you can actually take these stock coils apart & put fresh cotton in but you have to be gentle getting the mesh/cotton out, when you do it once though it gets pretty easy, you could even go as far as dry firing the mesh in an rda/rta deck (at low wattage obvz), if you do break the mesh you can either buy the mesh with legs or just use 26/28g roundwire in them no problem. I always used to rebuild mine & friends stock coils, even pods too, xlim pods, xros pods, aspire, voopoo etc, you can use normal vape cotton or buy the strips like whats already in most stock coils/pods, i liked muji the best though tbh. Just my 2c on the whole stock coil cleaning/re-purposing.
