That should have been worded differently - she should have instructed you how to start a new thread because it would be more likely that you’d get an answer 
That said, there is the thread derailment in the form of a couple of off-topic replies, and then there is the total thread takeover that will bury anything useful in a stream of off-topic nonsense It’s the latter we’re after… A few off-topic replies are not cause for concern.

It would, because the staff and software cannot catch everything. Abuse will happen. If someone wants to be an asshole and do that, they’d be escorted out most likely. And deservedly so.

Exactly.But im of the mind that if people do that henceforth then they do so with the understanding that their stuff goes away. Everyone here knows better and shouldnt expect someone else to lean their room for them.
JoJo spent time moving this stuff to a thread in the Saloon because people didnt have enough respect for her to go there and post in the first place. She could have been doing other stuff.

But this is also a part of the je ne sais quoi of this place – that “thing” that TW12 is talking about.
The 100 posts in 20 minutes of “butt” stuff – yes, not really needed, and can understand that.
daath, and his post about reply with “new topic” will fix this for me going forward.
But should we if our question is “close” to what that original topic was about ?

The thought? Honestly, I’m not sure right now - it just popped into my head that spoiler-tags were a thing, and could possibly be useful in some instances.

What is the spoiler tag for then? Seems like a useless function if it is to mask an image. I can’t think of anything vape related that requires a spoiler alert tag and if nudity and such is forbidden then it’s kind of useless?

It could be… But I have to admit, I like the idea.
It would be nice to have certain threads be nothing but targeted, helpful information.
And then other threads that don’t have it (which I expect will be equally numerous, if not the majority…as many of us relish the human interaction as we get to know folks who share at least one basic enjoyment, and are excited about the prospect of seeing what else we have in common! (music threads, gun threads, underwater basket-weaving, etc. LMAO)

Well like daath suggested, if you want to fork off a topic, split off into another topic but keep the main thread of the original post clean. And obviously, obscene or explicit things should be possible in the right forums but not everywhere. People should have to specifically look for it, it shouldn’t be something that is thrown in your face all the time.
People open this site at work, in public, with kids around and they shouldn’t be worried only being able to use the site at home in the dark of night.

If the question is close, and especially if it seems the OP has been sufficiently answered, one could start with, “I don’t mean to hijack your thread, but how about this and that and this and that!”, but I still feel that a new topic would be better.
Say you were reading a thread on Samsung 25R batteries, buy you want to ask a similar question on an LG battery, a new topic would be better.
Personally it would be something I would weigh in my head before posting…

We don’t talk vaping exclusively here It’s the primary thing, yes, but we talk about all sorts of stuff. I thought it could be a useful/fun thing to add.
A public forum. It doesn’t have to be sexual or anything - just something that you wouldn’t normally let your 8-year old see. If you are in the saloon, then you went in knowing that there were adults talking
