Am I the only one?

Ive been mixing now for almost 2 years and I have never once used a scale to mix. I do everything by syringe and ML not by weight. I cannot be the only one out there mixing this way am I?

Mixing bybweight, It’s pretty good lots of pros, understand if it’s your preference, and you’ve probably got vol mixing down to a fine art. but I’d definitely recommend giving it a chance, it can work as another tool in your arsenal. Great for a quick job I think and definitely not something to write off. Most people who switch over love it, however from the tone of your email you seem happy with what your doing that’s cool too. There are vol mixers here just not as many as weight.

What @Volition said!! I was a volume mixer for a while. I just recently switched to weight in early December and man I love it. Mixing is much much quicker and a lot less to clean up. But if you are happily Mixing by volume and have it down to a science by no means are we knocking you! What ever it takes to keep you off the stinkys is just fine

Well the main reason I started mixing by volume is because of the way my concentrates come. I dont get them in dripper bottles. all my flavors come from Wizard Labs (I live 30 minutes from them) and all of their flavors come in regular bottles. And yeah I kinda have volume mixing down pretty good. I can mix 1000ml of various flavors in about 45-60 minutes. Less if Im not doing fatherly things at the same time hehe

some of my old flavors from bcf, and all my new real flavors concentrates, require me to use a pipette or syring but I still mix by weight and just toss the pipettes when done

I switched to weight about a month ago. I wish I made it sooner. It’s so much easier than messing around with syringes and then cleaning up. It’s much much faster too, and I also think it’s more accurate when you’re mixing larger batches.

My concentrates also come in a bottle with a regular flat cap on them, but the great [insight] people at @Nicotine_River also include a nice twist cap with each bottle [I only purchase 2oz and up].
As far as I know, all of their smaller bottles come with a dropper tip on them.

For me personally mixing by weight was my biggest ‘aaaargh why did i not do this sooner!’ Moment.

Personal preference is of course exactly that, personal 🖒

That was exactly the same moment I had lol

Personally I have never mixed by vol. when I got into diy over a year ago after reading tons of posts a scale was the first thing I ordered along with flavorings.

You can also purchase new twist top lids for bottles. I wasn’t a big fan of needing to do it for a certain flavor company for their 30ml bottles. But there wasn’t anything I could do about it.

@Henry4 , @Volition explained it far better that I could have . You seem happy with your procedure and that is all that matters . I do agree with the others though in that switching to a scale was the best thing ever for me.It just makes the whole mixing session better.I mainly appreciate the time saved and the easy clean up that using a scale offers.
I have upgraded my scale recently and have an extra. If you want to give mixing by weight a try, p.m. me your address and I will send you one.

What an awesome offer @Henry4 I definitely recommend you take this up. Add another string to your bow buddy.

Nice work Mr @BoyHowdy

No. I’m in no hurry and I have my routine down pat. I can stop instantly if interupted and pick up again where I left off without a thought.

I did it the same way you did Henry. Just ran into some issues when i used a calculator. It made everything a mess. Gram scales are cheap and might as well get one if you are serious about this craft. A scale makes everything uniform, is faster, more accurate

Give it a go, you won’t go back.

I would think the biggest advantage is in your PG & VG. Super easy to quickly measure out a large quantity. Say 105.7 g what do you volume mixers do to measure out a larger amount. Would you do say 10 lots of 10ml or use a tube. Sounds painful.

Ok I know exactly how this is going to sound but trust me it works. My largest batches are 120ml. I measure out the nic, flavors and PG then I just fill the rest of the bottle (which is 120ml in size) with VG and blammo juice made. There really isnt much of a point in measuring out the VG when I know its always going to fill the rest of my bottle up. I do however know that for for 120ml of juice, I need 84ml of VG, and 22.8 ml of PG 1.2ml of nic and 12ml of flavor. My mixes are always the same as I vape 1mg of nic and always use 10% flavor for me preferred vape. Sure clean up is a lil bit pissy but I have a system for everything and Im really quick about it. But, with all this said, I think I will take up that offer on the scale and give it a go. Always looking for a better, more efficient way to get things done hehe.

Cleanup is a million times easier with a scale, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!!

Ah yes I didn’t think of that, mix to the container size. Aha.

If you ever buy MF flavours your system will need adjusting 10% will be too strong. But you will have scales by then so you all prefer them anyway. Being cheeky. Have fun with your new scales. Come to the dark side everyone is over here.

I agree…why change what you like, and are comfortable with.

Example: I have a 1990 F-150 4x4 5speed
@Rob62 saw it and fell in love…offered to trade me EVEN for his 2012 Camaro
that has 10,000 miles and garage kept.
I told him to piss off…and I felt bad…he’s a nice guy…
Why would I want to learn how to shift an automatic?
People should stop trying to change others.
