Anyone ever use Medusa brand coils?

I picked up some of these today to have for backup.

They’re kanthal… Don’t think I’ve ever used anything except nichrome.

Has anyone used these? Are they good or junk?

I’ve used them when I first started rebuildables. They aren’t bad. They aren’t the best, and I found out I don’t like kathal…I can hook you up with a coil builder on FB if you wanted to go all the way to flavor town

I dont use fb, but thank you. I’ll just have to plug a couple of these in my RTA when it’s time to change coils and see how it goes. I don’t wanna get my hopes up too much because cause they look super cool. I only realized they were kanthal after I bought them.

I’m so pissed, can’t seem to get these coils to work right for the life of me. Dropped the pair I had in and lost 1. Ffs. :skull_and_crossbones::skull_and_crossbones::skull_and_crossbones::skull_and_crossbones::skull_and_crossbones:

Can’t really use my other used coils because they’re cut too short. Im SOL until I order new ones.

It’s not too terrible, they’re hitting kind of weird. I think it’s the kanthal.

Alright… Maybe I did something wrong, but I definitely don’t recommend buying Medusa brand coils. I could not get them to work and they kept burning. I ended up wrapping my own, and the wire I have totally lacks flavor but it already is working way better.

I got some 4 core 28 38 ni80 wire.

Not battery friendly but they will work well for you.

Ok, thanks. Didnt realize that had an effect. I don’t think this coil wire is good for flavor at all. I can’t get much out of it at least. I thought “hybrid” wire would be kinda like Clapton, but it doesn’t really work too well. Better than the Medusas for sure, but now I’m awaiting on my mail order coils.

What Ohm’s are you running? How many winds at what ID?

Kanthal isn’t a hybrid. It will run the hottest of the common wires. It conveys a metallic taste. NI80 is #2 in commonly used wire. Runs a little cooler than Kanthal. Gives a cleaner taste than Kanthal.
You mentioned buying quad core fused Clapton’s. Depending on the Ohm’s the coils are running at a minimum starting wattage should be 40-45 watts and work your way up depending on how hot you like your vape. You may be vaping that coil somewhere around 80 watts if you like your vape hot.

I’m using a variable voltage mod, dual coil, 6 wraps .13ohms, 3mm id. had it cranked to 109-121 watts. Seems to hit better at 115-121w. Not getting dry hits, vapor isn’t warm, but I’m using the titan v2, I’ve noticed runs much cooler than my standard RTAs.

Seems like I really have to crank it up and I get them to hit right, slow ramp up I guess. Doesn’t taste burnt or anything though.

This is the first wire I ever bought to wrap, was disappointed with performance. It’s got a super tight wind on the outer wrap. I thought maybe that may be why it does work very well.

I looked into this a little bit this morning, it seems like the 28 38 gauge wire isn’t the best for what I’m trying to achieve. I’m going to have to try getting a different wire type.

Lots of flavor… Loud crackle, nice clouds. I got some premades on the way.

I just went through swapping like 4 sets of coils, finally found an old pair that worked. :skull_and_crossbones:

Scratch that, the began working… Then decided to be shit. They were old used coils though. Not surprised. Getting a little flavor from them, better than the last ones at least.
