Barenstein bears

The reason it is called Mandela Effect, is because years ago, Nelson Mandela died in prison… or so many people remember. But, then, he just never did, he was alive and released from prison, and later, much more recently died at home… this is the first modern realization of the phenomenon, and thus they called it the Mandela Effect. Since then, many reports of similar situations have arose over the years, everything of all subject matter, from Jif once being called Jiffy, (which i definitely remember because that shit was my favorite), to the challenger explosion date, it is just a very uncomfortable issue to remember things that never happened, as if it was from parallel universe. There are theories that just such an instance may have occurred, where two parallel Universes “collided”, and they have described it best with the Barrenstein/stain bears, calling one universe E, and one universe A respectively, where essentially some people had shifted between the two universes upon collision. There is quite a bit of mathematics to support that theory, though being predominately quantum mechanics, I don’t fully understand it, but it is interesting, none the less. I feel like it is a bit of a paradox to think of “who we are”, because if lessons are learned from experience, then current actions would be based off of the results of those experiences (touch a hot stove, ow… wont do that again. next time- remember its hot - doesnt touch it), so to say we are who we are by our actions, still would stem from our previous actions and choices, which lead up to the current choices.

OK…then that would explain why people feel so different from eachother…if they are walking around in different universes, having had different global experiences.

It would explain a lot of political and religious polarization going on right now.

I think it is a slippery, potentially damaging, slope you are on, though, when you start thinking you are in a different universe from others.

Just saying.

PS - I knew Mandela was out of prison and died at home. I also remember when and where I was when the challenger exploded. I was in 5th grade in my math class. Teacher was crying. Maybe people are mixing that explosion up with the more recent one? Maybe some folks just watch the news more closely? I feel like there are much simpler (Occam’s Razor) explanations.

"Occam’s razor (also written as Ockham’s razor, and lex parsimoniae in Latin, which means law of parsimony) is a problem-solving principle attributed to William of Ockham (c. 1287–1347), who was an English Franciscan friar and scholastic philosopher and theologian. The principle can be interpreted as stating Among competing hypotheses, the one with the fewest assumptions should be selected.
In science, Occam’s razor is used as a heuristic technique (discovery tool) to guide scientists in the development of theoretical models, rather than as an arbiter between published models.[1][2] In the scientific method, Occam’s razor is not considered an irrefutable principle of logic or a scientific result; the preference for simplicity in the scientific method is based on the falsifiability criterion. For each accepted explanation of a phenomenon, there may be an extremely large, perhaps even incomprehensible, number of possible and more complex alternatives, because one can always burden failing explanations with ad hoc hypotheses to prevent them from being falsified; therefore, simpler theories are preferable to more complex ones because they are more testable." --this is the overly complex explanation of Occam’s Razor scientific precept.

Simply put: All things being equal, the simplest answer is usually the right one.

But, what would the simplest answer be in this case…? To say myself, and many many many are just wrong?(which is an assumption in itself) or that there is a more mathematical/scientific explanation of how two universes merged or overlapped for a period of time?

that some people have better memories and some watch the news more closely…a million things…

as far as the universes merging…I think it killing a mouse with an elephant gun. Maybe I am still not understanding…I haven’t read into the site more yet. I will before I come back.

I clicked on the website on break today, and there were a bunch of different examples.
I never watched a Sinbad movie to really know.
BUT I saw there was a thing about Different Strokes vs Diff’rent Strokes…and IMO that can be blamed on TVguide and line space for the title/shorthand, and I do remember seeing it listed as so AND I also remember seeing the title graphic being Different Strokes.

I will say ive seen this first hand in conversations with my dad, we will talk about music (for example) and he remembers stuff that is just wrong, he will blend a couple memories and it will become one truth, that is wrong, but hes certain he is right.

I cant recall the name of this shift phenomena, but it did interest me and I do plan on reading more about it, and likely on other sites…cause some of that is just silly semantics.

As for the Challenger explosion, that happened when I was in junior high, I live in Titusville Florida, you dont get any closer to the launch site than here…anyways I was walking between classes, on the way to shop class, an uncovered walkway and witnessed it with my own eyes in the sky. I remember a female teacher was onboard (and joking that she must have spilled her coffee on the console, I was a dumb kid)…and I also remember Van Halen’s 1984 came out while I was in junior high and thinking it was a lil strange that it was released in late 1983, but called 1984…so id say that one popped in 1984 and definitely not 1986 as I was in high school and indoors and would have only seen that on tv live.

That teacher was my stepdads science teacher :stuck_out_tongue: and like i said, he was in highschool and then prison for 3 years, I was born in 87, and met him at 6months old, so if it was 86, it just doesn’t add up. Glad im not the only on here to see that one differently, also.

Now Im thinking my previous post is wrong…I started highschool in August of 86, and that it could have happened in January of 86. If I drudge up my 8th grade year book I could have proof, but math and deductive reasoning tells me that im right, and was wrong in my previous post. Damn VanHalen theory! !!

Things listed on that site that are different for me:
The chinese guy got ran over by the tank.
the peanutbutter Jif used to be called Jiffy
Simbad was a genie in a movie
Challenger was 1984
it’s barenstein, not stain
chartreuse is shade of red, not a shade of yellow
curious george is a monkey with a tail, not a chimp with no tail (monkeys are curious! duh hence the name!)
Ghost Hunters was originally named TAPS as the TV title, not just their company name (i remember because i thought it was TAPS the movie when i saw it on TV guide channel back in the day)
Henry VIII with a turkey leg in a pic, yup that was definitely in my history book in school
Mother Theresa was a saint before she died, and no not the pre-existing one, this one… it was huge news because she hadnt even died yet
Nelson mandela was dead in prison not years later at home, although it happened before i was born it was just known fact, then suddenly he wasn’t…
It’s Barbara Streisand, not Barbra (not a typo, unless every show she was on that prompted her name thru the 90’s spelt it wrong…)
Jim Henson died of cancer not strep infection.
Thanksgiving I always remembered was the third thursday (the alliteration was how i remembered it) of november… but its the forth.
Japan was farther south than it is…

fuck me, i guess i am just crazy.

Jiffy was the popcorn
Nelson Mandela was released and was a public figure.

Not in my memory of it all.
With the mandela effect thing, what the people are remembering different never actually happened, there-fore there is no physical evidences of it, aside from other people remembering the same, also… that is the worst part of it, it isn’t like i can go on google and be like see because in this “timeline” of events, none of it ever happened to be posted in the first place…
