Hi guys,
Really liking the site and appreciate all who contribute their recipes. Im trying to make a ice cola something similar to Bonza cola if any of you have tried it.
Firstly I’m using pods xros 5 and Uwell g3.
Now hopefully the picture of my recipe shows (this is my first post)
So I made this let it steep for a week and it has a soapy taste with the hint of cola. If anyone could give me some pointers it would be greatly appreciated
Cut back on the cola (FA) percentage. Start around 5-6 percent and let it sit a day. Taste . Flavors have a percentage range and 20 percent is too high for any one flavor. If it’s not strong enough for you add another cola.
I’d have to agree with @rcleven on this 20% FA Cola is way too high though it is a weak flavor at any percentage. I typically used FA Cola @2-3 In conjunction with a vanilla and brown sugar or caramel to increase the presence of FA Cola. Depending on your location USA or Europe there are better Cola flavors like SSA Cola or VTA Cola (both are avail @Nom Nomz) which are both very good and present at 5%. Also I wouldn’t go over 1% with WS23 as it can mute other flavors.
An example of a good cola recipe is one of my wife’s favorites.
The WF Rum and Cola can be subbed at the same % with either FA or VTA Cola as the WF brings a slight lime note. Otherwise it works great and has a full flavor especially when used in a pod type unit. Simply add .5-1% WS23 for a cooling effect.
Thanks for the replies, Im in Australia so we dont or at least i haven’t yet found a huge range of flavours. I have been reading for pod devices you need to 3x ingredients on most recipes. I will try dialing it down a bit and see how I go.
Thanks fellas.
I have. My buddy won a contest from Sam and I tried his first 3 flavors here in the US. It was a long time ago but I recall a lot if not all TFA flavors.
