Well remember you’re only typing CMD once, JUST to get the command prompt up, THEN, you run the PING, let it finish/fail, then run the tracert
WELL, isn’t THAT interesting. I’m pretty sure when you traced to the domain/URL, i.e. tracert e-liquid-recipes.com it failed, BUT when you traced direct to the IP, it succeeded.
Again, it is all Klingon speak to me, all I can do is stare at you blankly and nod my head in hopes of being able to fool you that I know what you are referring to.
All I can do is copy and paste what you tell me to input, lol.
OMGosh! Now I can see the recipes again!!! Was it down just for me and my lousy connection or did you spark something?
You never know @KC111
Either way, you are smarter now, then you were before. You now know about pinging, and trace routing.
I’m glad we didn’t have to get into DNS Flushing.
Get your recipes on !!!
Nope, still don’t understand the other Klingon terms, but THANK YOU! I owe you some sourdough bread…
Sometimes the DNS can get borked. All that happens is:
- You type in e-liquid-recipes.com
- Your computer shouts out for the ACTUAL IP address.
- You get a response, and your computer takes you to the web site.
If that process get borked, you DON’T get to the website.
*Light bulb kind of flickering here…
They flicker before they turn on.
When you break down the Klingon speak, you were kind of making sense.
Well let’s close this, AFTER you can SEE the whole DNS (Domain Name Server). No Klingon, just pics …
-
When you type in “Medium.com” (in the example), your computer (or your web browser) doesn’t have a clue WHERE to send you.
-
It shouts out to the DNS Server(s) aka the Root, Top-Level, then Second-Level, and they send you BACK the actual IP address (well not YOU, but your web browser LOL).
-
You then surf over to the actual IP address, and don’t even know it. ALL happening in the background.
Didn’t help me 1 iota, but thank you so much for trying to educate this computer illiterate!
@KC111 I will be requiring several loaves of that please, immediately if not sooner. Can you fax or email them to me?
One day at a time.
I wish!!! I’ve been missing the genuine sour-ness of sourdough bread and after months of building up my starter, it is finally mouth watering. I would love to send you and D-man some but without preservatives, it won’t make it.
Thank you so much @SessionDrummer, for your time and patience! XOXO to you and everyone else on this forum.
