According to Bill Godshall, Executive Director of Smokefree Pennsylvania, and I quote…
US House Appropriations Cmte bill would prohibit FDA from enforcing the
February 15, 2007 grandfather date for newly deemed tobacco products
(including e-cigarettes), move grandfather date to issuance of Final
Rule for Deeming Regulation (allowing newly deemed tobacco and
e-cigarette products now on the market to remain legal, but require FDA
approval of PMTA’s for new products after Final Rule issuance).

Please note this appropriations bill would essentially enact Rep. Tom Cole’s bill (HR 2058) into law.
The ANTZ just found out, and are going nuts.
Note that I also posted a similar note on the FDA News thread because
this is Congressional legislation that heavily impacts the FDA’s
proposed deeming regulation.
Stay tuned for news stories on this tomorrow and in the future.
Cross your fingers guys, gals…
Anything I can cross is crossed! Yes…anything…

Email in response to a Petition Signature Email I sent to Representative Ed Whitlfield of Kentucky…
Thank you for contacting me about H.R. 2058, the FDA Deeming
Authority Clarification Act of 2015. This legislation was referred to
the House Energy and Commerce Committee for consideration.
On April 25, 2014, the FDA proposed a rule that would extend the
Agency’s tobacco authority to cover additional tobacco products, such as
e-cigarettes, “deemed” subject to its regulation. The FDA’s rule would
require manufacturers of newly deemed tobacco products to register with
the FDA, report product and ingredient listings, market new products
only after FDA review, and not distribute free samples. The proposed
grandfather date, February 15, 2007, subjects tobacco products brought
to market after that date to FDA premarket review requirements.
According to the bill’s author, H.R. 2058 would extend the
grandfather date for newly deemed tobacco products to the date the
regulation is finalized. I agree that the Agency’s proposed grandfather
date creates an inequity between currently regulated tobacco products
and newly deemed tobacco products. Setting the grandfather date
concurrent with the rule being finalized seems like a reasonable
approach that would prevent an unwarranted regulatory barrier to
innovation, while also ensuring these newly deemed tobacco products are
safe for consumers. For these reasons, I decided to co-sponsor this
legislation and look forward to working with my colleagues to advance it
in the House of Representatives.
If I could vote for this guy, you can believe he’d have it…
Wauw, they look really good. I think I will move to the US now so I can use one.
Cool but there’s no need for that. I’m sure you can find something to bitch about in your country and have a local stamp maker make the stamp for you. Done deal…
