What up vapefam!
SirRisc here with another gear review courtesy of Gearbest.com!
I’ve been tooting two RDAs over the passed week(s), the Troll and the Freakshow Mini, both from Wotofo!
Premise.
Wotofo, also know as Amod, is mostly known for their high quality clones of mods like the SMPL and the Paragon.
However outside of their cloning skills, they are also proving that authentic gear is one of their many talents.
The Troll, the Freakshow, the Freakshow Mini, the Phantom mech mod, the Wild Wolf mech mod are all examples of how Wotofo is working to bring vapers good gear at a fair price.
While I agree with some opinions that the Troll and the Freakshow could have done without the engraved logos, they are definitely high quality.
Join me as I look into the Troll RDA and the Freakshow Mini RDA!
Specifications.
- 22mm diameter
- 304 Stainless Steel
- Silver plated adjustable 510 screw
- Staggered airflow (3 x 7mm/1mm holes on both sides)
- Laser engraved Troll logo
- Delrin insert for 510 drip tip
- Serialized
- Extremely deep juice well
- Quad post
- Available in stainless, copper, white and black
Packaging.
One thing I have to hand to Wotofo, their packaging is on point.
The RDA comes in an aluminium tin with a little round window on the lid so you can see the RDA sitting in the foam insert.
Underneath the foam insert there is a small plastic bag with a blue screwdriver (yaaay!), several spare screws, and a bunch of red and clear o-rings.
On the bottom of the tin is the Wotofo logo in all its colorful glory, and on the side you’ll find a sticker with the scratch and check code.
On the sticker is also a QR code if you’re inclined to use your phone or tablet for it.
Aesthetics.
Whether or not you’ve frequented forums or imageboards, you’ve probably seen the Troll meme around.
And that’s exactly what is engraved on this RDA.
In terms of machining the RDA is practically perfect, the stainless steel is flawless and clean.
The deck is machined to perfection, the juice well is indented for that little extra bit of capacity, and the delrin sits snug in the topcap.
Unfortunately only one of my drip tips sits snug in the delrin, which leads me to believe it is slightly too wide.
Performance.
Let me start by saying I’ve been using an authentic Congrevape Doge V2 as my go to RDA for a couple of months now, I use it daily and usually in tasting sessions for juice reviews too.
I know how the flavor should be, I know how the cloud production is. The Troll does the same, but better.
In terms of cloudchasing the Troll provides ample airflow, a large deck and a very deep juice well to avoid getting dryhits.
With that said, the Troll performs like a dream for cloudchasers alike. Deep toots don’t warm up the drip tip much because of the delrin insert and the airflow is even more open than the Doge.
In terms of flavor it also beats the Doge with a rather large stick, it’s a pure flavor even with the airflow opened up completely.
Because of the deep well it also holds a metric fuckton of juice, so you can enjoy long stints of vaping without having to redrip.
Building.
The deck features a quad post and rather large holes which can take thick wire. You’ll struggle to get claptons in there but for regular builds it works perfectly.
Even with coil builds at higher diameters like 3.5mm ID, there is ample room to hold the build.
The wicking is simple, I ve found keeping the wicks short, just touching the bottom of the deck, is best for the airflow and flavor.
The insulator is in PEEK so you can kick the wattage up a notch or two, it won’t budge.
Screwing down the centerpost is easy but you’ll find the post slightly moving if you use too much force.
With that in mind, the screws do have decent grip so there’s no need to tighten it with brute force.
My go to build is a dual coil with 0.51mm Kanthal A1 at 0.4ohm, and the Troll performs perfectly with it.
Pros and Cons.
Pro.
- Huge airflow
- Great flavor
- Big clouds
- Quad post
- No copper parts touching juice
- Delrin insert to prevent “hot lips”
- Machined to perfection
- Very easy to build on
- Extremely deep juice well
- Umadbro?
Con.
- Centerpost can spin if you use too much force
- No drip tip included
- Drip tips sit a bit loose in the delrin insert
- Troll engraving is subject to taste
Conclusion.
The Troll RDA is a beauty in terms of performance. While the aesthetics might not be for everyone, it doesn’t look all that bad to me.
It’s easy to build on, very forgiving and can take a serious low ohm build without flinching.
The airflow is enormous and can cool even the lowest builds.
I would’ve loved for this to come stock with a chuff style cap though, or at least with a proper delrin drip tip.
Specifications.
- 22mm diameter
- 304 Stainless Steel
- Silver plated adjustable 510 screw
- Bottom airflow (9mm/3mm holes on both sides)
- Single and dual coil airflow options
- Laser engraved Freakshow logo
- Stealth delrin insert for 510 drip tip
- Serialized
- Deep juice well

Packaging.
The same packaging as the Troll RDA comes in, with one exception being the accessories.
The Freakshow Mini uses hex screws so it comes with a blue hex screwdriver (yaaay!) and only a single set of spare screws and o-rings.
Aesthetics.
I ran into the same issue with the Freakshow as I did with the Troll, the delrin seems to be slightly too wide for my driptips to sit snug.
Other than that the maching is again spot on, there’s not a single flaw in the entire thing.
I chose to rock a lime green Freakshow Mini because it looks freaking awesome, and as a former coachworker and airbrusher I have to say that the finish is actually very impressive.
The engraving is somewhat deeper than the Trolls engraving, but because of the color it doesn’t jump out as much.
I quite like the top cap being in one piece, despite of the fact that I have to take the entire thing off every time I need to drip.
Performance.
The performance from such a small RDA (at 19mm high it really is a tiny one) is amazing.
It takes some getting used to the flavor it puts out, especially at higher wattages, but it performs great.
There’s a slight risk of overdripping because of the airflow being just under the coils, but if you’re careful it shouldn’t be much of a problem.
The airflow is huge and makes the RDA rival the bigger ones, but because of the small chamber it doesn’t seem to lose flavor all that much.
With that in mind it does lose flavor once it gets hot, and it gets hot quickly.
I’ve found that after a few deep toots I have to set the Freakshow Mini aside for it to cool down, despite of the heatsink fins on the top.
Building.
The deck has a triple post setup, which means if you want to go dual coil you’ll have to stick two wires through the centerpost.
This can be a little challenging because of the way you have to build above the airflow.
I’ve found that building close to the centerpost is best for flavor, and it helps against leaking too.
Less is more in terms of wicking, if your wick is more than touching the deck you’re using too much.
Being a small chamber and having the airflow beneath the coils means you’ll have some spitback too, the drip tip can be a solution there.
You’re best using a slightly narrower bore drip tip to prevent getting hot juice spitting into your mouth. (Not like that, you perverts!)
As with all my RDAs my go to build is a dual 0.4ohm coil made from 0.51mm Kanthal A1 and a 3.2mm inner diameter.
However that is something the Freakshow Mini doesn’t seem to like because of the small chamber, so I’d advise building with a lower inner diameter.
Eventually I ended up with a 0.4ohm build made from 2 twisted strands of 0.28mm Kanthal A1 with an inner diameter of 2.4mm and that seemed to perform a lot better.
It also fit a lot easier into the deck and positioned a bit closer to the airflow it gave me a clean and pure flavor.
Pros and Cons.
Pro.
- Huge airflow
- Great flavor
- It’s fucking tiny
- Triple post
- No copper parts touching juice
- Delrin insert to prevent “hot lips”
- Machined to perfection
- Very easy to build on
- It’s greeeeeen!
Con.
- Spits back like a pornstar
- No drip tip included
- Drip tips sit a bit loose in the delrin insert
- Gets hot quickly and loses flavor when hot
- Tends to leak easily if you drip too quick or too much
- No room for larger inner diameter builds
- Takes some adjustement to build above the airflow holes
Conclusion.
The Freakshow Mini RDA is a nice addition to any RDA collection. Because of its tiny size it’s mostly a flavorchasing dripper but it can do clouds just fine as well.
The green finish looks freaking awesome and it doesn’t wear as much as some other painted RDAs I’ve had.
It does take some getting used to, the way you have to build on this Freakshow Mini will require a smaller diameter of coils and will test your patience sometimes.
As with the Troll RDA I would’ve loved this to come with at least a delrin drip tip. I know there are comp caps available but I hate having to buy extras for an RDA.
Final conclusion.
Wotofo is definitely on the right path with their authentic gear, the quality is amazing and they seem to have a good idea on how to build a proper RDA that does both flavor and clouds.
In terms of packaging they also seem to know their stuff, the tins are a nice addition to the whole experience and allow you to store the RDAs safely when you’re not using them.
While the Freakshow Mini does have a few small disadvantages, it performs quite nicely for such a small RDA. The Troll however has now permanently replaced my Doge V2 as my daily carry.
Overall I’m impressed by the jump forward Wotofo has made, I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on any future RDAs or mods they’re bound to release.
