I’m a little confused too. If it’s a 10% solution in VG, and I wanted to make 30ml all VGwith 10% nicotine, I could just add flavoring to 30 mil of the stuff and be done with it? or… if I wanted to make 5% nicotine I could dilute the nic, 1/2 & 1/2 with more VG?
If it is 1000mg nic diluted at 10% in VG, then it is 100mg/ml nic. So it’s 100mg/ml 100% VG nic. Depending on what level you wanted your nicotine solution, you’d use a small percentage of the nicotine. DON’T use 30ml of it with added flavoring or you’ll kill yourself. That’s way too much.
10% nicotine is 100 mg/ml - not something you want to vape. You probably want 0.5% nicotine which is 5 mg.
Anyway, use ELR and plot nicotine strength in as 100 mg/ml - then set your desired target strength
This is throwing me off: 100MG per 1000ML is approximately and for all practical purposes, a 10 percent solution. -and- 50MG/1000ML is a 5% solution, 100MG/1000ML is a 10% solution, 500MG/1000ML is a 50% solution and 1000MG/1000ML ( or also expressed as 1000MG/1KG) is not a solution at all, it is pure nicotine.
The bottle I bought from vapers tek says 100MG/450ml wouldn’t this nicotine be stronger than the one labeled 100mg per 1000ml??
I am reading all of this i hope nobody gets hurt from this labeling and give another bullet to the govs.
If you roughly translate it to weight you get: 100 mg nicotine per 1,000,000 mg liquid. 100 mg per 1000 ml means that your 1000 ml liquid contains 100mg of nicotine in total. Not a 10% solution They mean 1000 ml of 100 mg/ml. Or 100 g per 1000 ml.
too. many. zeros. I will revisit this topic when I haven’t been drinking
until then…Let’s say I have 2 bottles from 2 different companies, the bottles are the same size and both are 100% vg.
One label says 100mg/450 ml and the other says 100mg/1000ml.
You’re saying both bottles contain the same amount of nicotine and should be treated the same when calculating a recipe?
I’m pretty sure both of them meant to say: 450 ml of 100 mg/ml nicotine e-liquid, and 1000 ml of 100 mg/ml nicotine e-liquid
c’mon. are they the same? why does that have to be confusing??
Although I am not sure, my best guess is that they both mean to say the same. Why they choose to do it this way, I have no idea…
Maybe you’re just supposed to read it like, “100 mg/ml liquid, total volume: 450 ml” or something like that…
I’m going to call both companies one of these days. If they are, indeed, totally different concentrations, it’s a huge difference. This in one area that I actually would like to see regulated.
I’m getting ready to test this Nic at home from Carolina it’s the questionable 1,000 mg/ 100ml one so hold on I’ll post results in just a lil bit.
I think I’m going to have to shake this stuff for a while mine is 100% VG. I keep coming up with rediculously low numbers 1st. 14.8 mg/ml
2nd 12.94 mg/ml
My guess is it’s not shook well enuf and I thought I did that. I’m using 15mls of distilled water 6 drops of bro blue and I only use .90 of acid on first batch and second batch used 0.80 of acid my mathematics may be wrong.
Sub 0.80 from 3.00 = 2.20 so 0.80 acid used
Multiply used amount of acid by 16.23( since I used 1 ml of nicotine )
I’m going to take a few clean air breaks and try it again. My face is hot from my N95 respirator and goggles.
Well no such luck after several minutes shaking it the last test was even lower at 8.1 so I’m really confused what the heck is in this bottle. I already made a 100 mg batch of stuff earlier and had planned on testing it prior to well I also test the base it came out to 2.7 mg/ ml. This nicotine was in the freezer for the last 3 months and I took it out 3 days ago. So I guess it degraded really badly. The sad part is , it was not ever opened. It was factory sealed and still if this is what has happened it’s degraded. Sux. Good thing I got more on the way ! And not from them.
P.s. It’s getting dumped and I’m breaking up with Carolina as of now !
Hmm. Interesting results. Thanks for sharing. Did you try contacting them about it?
I ALWAYS recommend using 100% PG based nicotine. It is much easier to work with.
When measuring nicotine strength, I use this formula:
mg=strength
ml=quantity
No I didn’t. I also tested some of my new Nic I recently got like a day or two after that and it came out perfectly. So my math was fine but the Nic wasn’t. Now this Nic I’d tested wasn’t that old not had it ever been in the freezer either.
The Carolina really wasn’t that old it was from May of this year.
