I know people don’t like looking at these things but this is what a feral cat must do to survive. My Nikko was quite the hunter and I did my best to protect the birds because I figure each one counts. N. America has lost 3 billion birds since 1970 and decline continues.
Speaking of squirrels, I read that if an animal eats a dead squirrel there’s a chance of contracting a deadly disease causing a slow painful death. In 2015 there was a man who, having a penchant for eating squirrel meat, died from a brain disease called Creutzfeldt–Jakob. It’s rare and you can only get it from eating the infected person/animal. Moral: If you like squirrel meat, stay away from the brains. Sorry for the gross rant on dead squirrels.
Have you ever seen the YT channel called Luna the Pantera? If you dig cats (big cats) you might enjoy it. Luna was rescued as a kitten from a circus. The couple who rescued her live in Siberia and rehabilitate wildlife. They own a Rottweiler who helped raise Luna and of course they’re besties now or should I say beasties
Ohh, I didn’t realize how young she was (or I forgot). When the snow got really high we used to shovel out a maze in the yard and watch their tails go by. At the end of the maze we shoveled a circle so they had enough room to poop and circle back.
I always thought about that with Luna the Pantera, a panther raised in Siberia. I guess that’s the only environment she’s ever known so it’s really crazy watching her romp around and play in it. Dude, like no camouflage at all! She sticks out like an ink blot
