Update: Had a look into Chef’s again, and found they have a smattering of various PG-Free, once more + a fair range of RF (which are all PG -free). I’m not excited about the RF because I can get those at another place, but there a few l;ttle gems there, prolly a lot more than I know, because damned if I’m gonna click on every flavour on the offchance!. I’ve now written to suggest that they re-instate the PG-free tab.
Ummm…I guess I’ll slope off and let this thread get back on-topic now
I’m guessing you’re meaning either (Pure Flavors) or (PF). I’m going to make an executive decision here and say go with (PF) since that seems to already be in play. If he wants it changed, I can do that later and I’ll update ya.
“Pure Flavour” spelled the English way, cos it’s a German Company, not an American Company. If ya follow @BathVaper 's link, you’ll see exactly who they are. Heck…but even Chef’s Flavours spelled them in the American way in their tab, I notice. How confusing!
So, is there a different company called “Pure Flavors”? And does PF denote this other company? Or do both spellings refer to same people?
Incidentally, a fair few of the PF (is that what we’re calling them?) are PG-free, as I found out the other day using the Google trick … plus clicking on every individual flavour for the specific ingredients on that flavour. I found ar least ten, but not many of those made it onto Chef’s list. But I do see at least three that did! (Liquorice, Plum and Wine Punch) Ethanol and water are the carriers in those specific instances.
Curiously, I’d already written to Chef’s by then and asked them if PV are PG-free ? (amonst other things) and theyjjust today responded in the negative . Which is true regarding the whole range, but nor true of all the individual flavours in that range. This goes to show that the retailer mightsimply not have that kind of info, doesn’tt it?
More disconcertingly, they wrote back to say that Real Flavors SC are not PG-free. Huh? Heck, I’ll have to toddle over to Walt’s thread now, because I’m pretty damned sure that he said that they are!
If it’s a German company then why does it have to be spelled the English way? Maybe we should spell it the German way?! IMHO, I think we get the jist with either spelling.
And while we’re at it, if you feel the need to be a pedant, it’s actually Pure Flavours
Cos the English language was invented by we English, ya know? American spelling is only proper in America .
Actually , Lolly, I don’t dare be a pedant re. spelling, cos I’m dyslexic. 'Twould definitely be pot calling kettle black! (If you want a laugh about that , check out my edit on that post! No, I won’t be offended , even I was laughing!)
However in this case, given potential confusion betwen two different companies, the spelling really matters !
Back last March after the first batch of super-concentrates were released, Walt confirmed that the SC carrier would vary according to what worked for each flavour but would be “a mix of VG, PDO, or a different carrier like distilled water” with the flavour extract (suspended in alcohol).
Just two of those early concentrates contained “a very small amount (under 1%)” of pg but I’ve no idea of the status of the more recently released flavours in the range.
Well, I’m not gonna worry 'bout that less than 1%, p[ersonally speaking, cos I’ve been using SC since their release, with no issues. Indeed, if you already have an allergy (as I do) then exposure to the allergen at tiny concentrations has been found to be an effective treatment ! (It;s supposed to be done under medical supervision though!) . Heck, I might have managed to inadvertently cure myself!
EDIT: …or maybe , I just never used those two ! (Just re-read your post, and belatedly grasped that we’re talking of two. Hmm.
I just got some of the flavour creative rebranded FA. Have people here noticed that the ingredients list includes water? I was wondering if hey are adding water when they are rebottling these. FA always just list pg and flavour on their bottles.
I mixed up some of the 7 leaves I got and it tastes quite strong just mixed, I’m not as familiar with this flavour, got some ry4 as well that i’m hoping I’ll be able to tell with. Maybe it’s just a labelling error, but they all say it. Concord grape, ry4, 7 leaves, cocoa. I was shaking it to see if it’s less viscous but it’s impossible to be sure I’ve not got the idea preconceived now after noticing it.
Apart from OMgin I thought the flavourmonks were pretty dire anyway, and lets face it 90% of One on One flavours are pretty awful. Although I like as much choice as possible…can see why those would get dropped. They do stock so many flavours, understandable some just lay doormant after hype…they still have loads of real flavors vg line on sale last time I looked, cant give em away
Pure Flavors Elderflower is the only one I have tried and it is good. Im trying to steer away from buying any new flavours for a few weeks, but its good enough to have me interested in trying a couple of others…and they have just started stocking FA Pandoro arghhhh
I would love to know which brands some of the rebranded range are. I do remember (dont think there now) The JOhn SMith Tobacco were on the rebranded range, wasnt mad on them anyway. They are different brands rather than one or two companies just rebranded I would think. I notice a lot of the flavours seem to get added and vanish not much later, wonder if its a tool for clearing stock possibly? Only ones I have tried that are always on there are cannoli and rice pudding…both were abysmal to me.
The one things dissapoints me with chefs is they do stock some obscure brands like Sasami…yet hardly any of there good flavours.
I also have no idea who some of the obscure ones are such as the yummy range? I tried there fizzy fruits not long ago and it was actually pretty good
Chefs are my main supplier and I find them great to deal with so would be very surprised if they watered down any concentrate so… Just can’t see it myself.
My only complaint is that I seem to be one of the only cluster ers who doesn’t get a freebie now and then? Lol
There’s no way that Chefs would mess with rebottled concentrates.
When I raised the issue with them, they offered to send @232323 10ml samples of five flavours from each range so s/he could check they were identical in strength.
Chefs’ impeccable reputation is their most valuable asset and they regularly go above and beyond what could be expected to sort out problems or complaints.
I’m afraid there’s no way to fix the freebie thing - it really is completely random - but they’re almost always either end-of-line flavours (that haven’t sold well enough to justify the shelf space) or stock that’s nearing it’s ‘best before’ date.
