Clearly you haven’t been married long, or just don’t understand the dynamics at play here. As husbands, we never win. We may think we’ve had a little victory here or there. And “they” even let us feel this way sometimes for a good while. Sooner or later, they launch and all out offensive like a surgical bombing raid, using the silent-but-deadly Stealth bomber so we don’t even see it coming. Trick is, at that particular moment in time, to think back to our so-called victories, and admit we should have seen it coming!!
My lovely wife used to do the same. Whether she had some overly ornate other focal point or not, the tree used to get great attention. I think the older she’s gotten, the less she cares about the tree and the more she cares about every wall, cabinet, shelf, step, hearth, mantle, table, or other stationary object where some knickknack can sit. It may sound like I’m complaining, but really it’s just one of the many things about her that makes me love her more each day.
Our only way of winning is accepting that we will never win. As the old joke goes-
A husband and wife are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. When asked how they were able to stay together so long, the husband said “Easy! I make all the big decisions, and my wife makes all the little ones. 50 years, and not one big decision yet!”
It’s the cleaning part and the taking down that I have difficulty with, hence no decorations
I coexist very well with spiders, a luxury I can afford in this part of the world.
