Coil Building show offs!

Here’s some wire I’ve been working on tonight.

Framed Staple

5ply .5mm Ribbon Kanthal between 2x26g Kanthal and fused with 38g Nichrome80.

Thank you…these are the answers I look for!

5 wrap 3mm .26ohms single coil.

Not perfect but certainly not bad for my first attempt.

How does it compare to a standard Ti build?

I’ve got a standard 28g Ti build in my Plume Veil 1.5.

The ohms kept jumping around like crazy.

When/if I get a TC mod or some lower gauge Ti to play with I’ll answer properly.

I agree with you on the flavor those coils produce. The only side note is I can taste a lot of metal in my vape too. More wire has more surface area for more juice to burn. That equates to more flavor than a standard wrapped coil. What I have found also is all that extra wire will mute some flavor because of the extra metal taste. It’s like 2 step forward and one step back. What impresses me more with SS and Ti is the lack of metal taste. It mutes nothing, giving you pure unadulterated flavor. That’s why I don’t build them fancy coils no more. But sometimes building fancy coils is just fun so I know how you feel about your coils. Keep posting them fancy coils bro. If they came up with 36g Ti or SS I’ll start building again.

I find that the SS317 that I’ve got has quite a metallic taste though.

I did Vape the Ti 28g though and I must admit it was a very clean flavour but the jumping resistance had me spooked. So I can see how locking your resistance in TC would definately work better when vaping.

I’m thinking I’m going to invest in the SnowWolf200w as I’ve almost sold enough juice this month to pay for it.

I’ve also offered out my coil building services to a local B&M for dripper customers.

He also only currently carries 50/50 juices so I’m taking some of my 30/70 juices for him to try etc.

Who knows I maybe working in Vape shop soon lol.

They’re gonna love those coils. I miss building a lot. Between working 12hr days and making juice I just don’t have the time anymore. I have like 40 recipes I have yet to taste. I hope that vape shop stuff work out for you. I know you would love that.

I have 316L and 317L. When I was using the SS it was mostly the 317L 28g from crazy wire co. I didn’t notice alot of metal taste. It was more in the heavy gauge 316L I thought more matallic to me. But neither was worst than Ni200 or Kanthal.

I would love it you’re right there.

Even if all I did was mix and make coils lol.

I doubt I would give up the day job but it could be a nice way to spend a Saturday.

My other half probably wouldn’t agree though lol.

That could be the problem with my SS317L its 25AWG.

SS claps wrapped in Nichrome and the metallic taste subsides but straight SS is just off a little bit for me.

I’m liking the full Nichrome builds that I make.

There’s a settling in period of about 24hours for the coils to wear in and then after that it’s flavour city.

The Billow build I have posted here with the 32gKA1 fused claps in 38gNm80 with parallel 29gNm80 was a quicker ramp up than the SFC build above but the Full Nichrome SFC is more flavourful.

I may revisit the original build but make it full Nichrome
32gNm80 fused clap with 38gNm80 and I may parallel it with a 32gNm80 next time instead of the 29g.

I may also contact crazy wire and find out if they can make Ti and SS in any finer grades.

Do you clean your SS-wire? I wipe mine down with alcohol before I use it - like I do with titanium  (I use 317L as well)

TBH with you no I haven’t been.

Maybe I’ll try rebuilding an RDA tonight with some “cleaned” SS317.

I’ve got IPA and Vodka (the wife won’t like me using the latter) so maybe I’ll try again with it.

thanks for the heads up, I always dry fire etc

I might clean some up and make a larger build with them at a higher wattage.

Something like 8 wrap dual coil or something.

Get some good surface area.

4/3 wraps on 2mm id, coming in at .12 ohms…
i get occasional spit back when vaping this, more than occasional even, like 60-70% of the time…what causes it and what can i do?
ive tried vaping this from 38 to 48 watts

IME with the billow it’s caused by wicking

Usually by too much wick passing through the coil.

Only use slight resistance when passing the wick through the inner diameter.

well, thats not the case in this one, i’m thinking…i didnt use much wick and i chose a loose fit in this case…i cant say that ive ever experienced spit back like this before, so ive not had to figure it out before
my first thought was to turn up the wattage, thinking that if i burned the juice up, there wouldnt be any left to get sprayed in my mouth…

If you didn’t use very much wick then you could try using a little more.

It’s a fine art wicking intricate coils.

another thing it could possibly be is that the wire type is holding a little too much juice and causing juice explosions from the boiling juice.

I get this a lot with larger wire types in my drippers.

One of my browser tabs contained this:

Not sure where I found it?! I thought it was here, but apparently not - anyway looks cool!

That’s just insane! But I bet the flavor is as well!
