Coil Building show offs!

Just built that on my velocity last night. Vaped it at 100w. Ho-leee sheeet!

I’ve put this build in my GRIFFIN RTA.

It’s 2x24gNm80/38gNm80 Aliens. 6 wrap 3mm 0.11ohms.

Jaw dropping aliens brother :raised_hands:
I can’t seem to do them right, fuckes up every time :scream: they won’t bunch up right. I think I’m not stretching the de-claptoned wire enough or something.

Yeah the Griffin  don’t you just love it?
I have 22gn80 in mine and the Mrs has some fused in her. Hardly touched a dripper since I got them.

IT really is a great RTA.

Couple of pointers to successful aliens.

  1. Use 28g as a core for your Clapton and 2x26g as your alien core easier to handle than 3 cores when wrapping.

  2. When you stretch out your Clapton keep stretching it until you feel it tension up. You want to stretch it to the point where it only recoils back a very small amount.

  3. Lock your cores in the swivel and chuck. And wrap the alien like a fused Clapton except when your holding the wrapping wire keep it at a slight lead forward towards the swivel and hold the wrapper wire around 10" away from the cores. This gives it chance to twist and turn naturally as it wraps.

Other than this its all practice bro.

Thanks brotherâ˜ș
Great tips
I will do this when my wire arrives next week. Looking forward to it.

I bought 35g n80 and 39g n80, lots of it  which do you recommend starting with? I have worked before with the 35
 Love it for my fused.

Greetings
Tom, your humble apprentice :grinning:

I started with 29gNm80 then moved straight to 35gNm80.

35g I would suggest. Then work up to higher gauges when you feel comfortable.

Quick question.

You’re wrapping your Clapton one way and reversing the drill to over wrap the alien right?

 no God damnit. Just watched m.terk video again just now and it struck me. That’s what’s going on

No wonder they weren’t bunching up

Lol.

Goid job I asked that question then.

Always start the alien from the same side that was in the chuck when making the Clapton.

Thanks again for all the great help brother.

Running these on my obs crius rta.

316l ss triple twisted 26g around 2.5mm 100w 500f on my reuleaux-rx200. Very juicy and flavor is insane. I have finally found a way to get the rx ask new coil. It seems it only asks if you raise the resistance
And being that this build is 0.09ohm I had to make a mock up coil reading 0.06. Screw it on, unscrew it again, screw the crius on and fire. Then it ask for a new coil. Works perfectly after that. I sure hope wismec will fix this in the next update.

Not really positive, but it doesn’t look like you could put a top cap on that thing without touching the coils.

Meh, but it’s got plenty of tool marks!

tool marks are the devil!!!

you can definitely get a cap on there, thats the petri, i have 2 of em

I think it’s polished 18g Nichrome80.

And I can confirm that the cap would DEFINATELY fit on that Petri.

As long as you aren’t over hanging the base it will fit on.

That finish is achieved by wrapping about 5-7 more wraps of the coil than you require on a screw driver and locking that into the chuck of s drill.

Then you use wet and dry paper to polish it.

Starting with 500 grit and then 1000 then 1500 then 2000 all the way up to around 5000 grit paper.

After each cycle of polishing it should be run through an Ultra sonic cleaner to remove any metal particles.

Then once polishing is complete and you’ve USC’d it for a final time you unwrap the wraps that were clamped in the chuck and unwrap a couple from the opposit side until you’ve got the coil you require.

It’s a very labour intensive process for no usable benefit other than it looks super nice.
