Coil Building show offs!

A pretty sweet build could be

2x26 twisted together then helixed in the twist space with 32g.

You could try
CATERPILLAR TRACK coil.

10x32g cores fused with 32g and slightly hammered to flatten.

26g/32g Clapton.
26/26/32g fused Clapton.

28/32g Clapton. Make 2 and twist them together.

Make 2 of the above and helix with the 32g in the twist gaps.

A simple 2x28g twisted together parallel build.

26/32 staggered fused Clapton.

Alien claptons. You could Clapton 28g in 32g and decore it then use 2x26g as your core for an alien wrap Clapton.

There’s a few there to keep you going for practice.

Personally I find the Nichrome80 to have the better flavour over Kanthal and as @vaping_tom has mentioned the Nichrome has a faster ramp up time and has the aesthetic aspect of turning different colours during firing like gold, red, green, blue and purple making a very pleasing looking coil.

I thought so especially since she has only been building coils for like two weeks. Guess working with jeweler is good for something.

Some of my work colleagues mention jewellery making whenever they see my work.

So I can see how a jeweller would be good at coil building.

A lot of the tools used for coil builds are used in the jewellery making business.

There’s even a guy on Instagram selling coil pendants that he’s making from sterling silver etc.

I am going to be ordering some wire here real quick. Thinking of going with twisted messes cause I want one of their rdas or two. Holes are big enough for any build. Q. What wire should I get? The outside wire for example from what I have heard takes a lot more than the inside wire. Using nichrome and kanthol wire, is the inside nichrome and outside? What sizes and lengths would you recommend? This will be a 1 time only order as I will be in camp for 3 months, so I want to be able to build whatever I want

You’ll pay a fortune for TM wire.

I pay around £5/$7 for 600ft of 44g Nichrome 80.

I think TM wire is about $30 or so for 500ft.

But all I can tell you is what I use the most of.

24g, 26g, 28g Nichrome 80 for core wires.

34g, 36g, 38g, 42g and 44g Nichrome 80 as wrapping wires.

I very rarely use Kanthal at all unless I run out of Nichrome 80.

The only Kanthal I have currently is
24g, 32g, 39g, .5mm ribbon and .8mm ribbon.

Do you have to have tc for nichrome? Any suggestions in North America for reliable vendors?

No, nichrome is just a lower resistance wire, so Claptons fire/ramp up quickly.
Temco is the only brand of kanthal and nichrome I buy, from ebay.

I have never ordered off eBay. I think because of trust issues. Do you have a particular vender you trust? Or you just take your chances?

Temco is the manufacturer and distributor on ebay, that’s why I like temco so much, everything else is relabled so therefore more mark up more expensive.
I just wish temco made/sold ss and ti as well, sucks.

Wow on eBay tempo wants 12$ for wire 30$ for shipping

…I’ve never paid 30 shipping here in the US.

Series 60 and a1 what is difference A1 is way more expensive

Might be for international shipping. I can send to a U.S. Address though, I have a house 5 minutes from Dumas border

Looks like free ground shipping

Here’s a build I put in the TF-R2 deck.

Nothing too fancy just a simple 7 wrap 2.4mm 28g/44g Nichrome 80 fused claptons at 0.30ohms.
