Iā€™m trying but most of the time I burn straight through it :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Have you watched any if the tutorials on getting the coloring right?

Yeah? You really liking them, huh? Did you ever use other swivels before these? If you did, then you TOTALLY know the difference, then, huh?

Yeah love them. Huge difference manā€¦ I can run full speed and no problem at all.
Tutorials you say? Must check outā€¦

Iā€™ll take a quick look for you, brotherā€¦brb

Can anyone recommend where to buy some of these more complex coils?
Maybe Fused Clapton. Iā€™d like to buy it in a roll versus pre-wound coils.

If not and I need to make them (which Iā€™d have a ton of fun doing), What would you recommend I buy.
Do they usually consist of all Kanthal or are they sometimes nickel with kanthal wraps?

Basic help will do I can search and study here and find what I need to know, Iā€™m sure.
Iā€™m buying an Avacado tank and Iā€™ll have a lot of room for larger builds.

I would never advocate the use of Nickel in a clapton coil, if you mean NI200, but if you mean Nichrome N80, then yes, you can use either Kanthal or Nichrome
I also like to use Stainless Steel, I make all of my coils from SS317L because it leaves you the option of temperature control, but it can also be fired without it.
This being said, be aware that SS is very low resistance.

Thereā€™s a tonne of Youtube tutorials on making clapton wires; in my humble opinion I think that fused claptons just seem to wrap a little easier than normal claptons. All you need to make them is some resistance wire and a drill. I use 32 gauge for my outer wire and 24 gauge for my core.

Just had a look at the Avocado tankā€¦ Christ that looks like exactly what Iā€™d want for a tank system, can you compare it to an RDA for me? Iā€™ve tried the Goblin Mini and the Aromamizer but theyā€™re not for me, whereas that looks like a full blown RDA with a tank!

Pic semi related - Made some staggered fused claptons earlier, reasonably pleased with the result!

Nice work. Havenā€™t had the nerve to try the staggered yet, but soon.

I meant Ni200. Thanks for confirming iā€™m on the right track. Now I need to figure out the difference between Clapton and fused Clapton. I havenā€™t pulled out a drill, but I was thinking of using my sewing machine bobbin winder part. Iā€™ll bet that would work great because the sewing machine is so heavy and would be very stable. Iā€™ve been wrapping by hand 30 and 32g kanthal over one of these: 26g ss or 26g kanthal. or 24g nicrome 200. Just round and round it. Now I bought some Kanthal wrapped with kanthal and Iā€™m wondering if that will be as good or if i.e., the Nicrome wrapped it kanthal would be tastier. I have watched some videos especially of Rip Trippers (I like him) on coil building. But I just havenā€™t picked up on the difference between fused versus not fused Clapton.

Holy samolieā€¦ I went and looked at some of my notes and found thisā€¦Advanced Coil Types; Claptons are pretty cool to start you off wrapping wires. Then you can venture into claptons with parallel Kanthal. Then claptons with twisted Kanthal in parallel. Then twisted claptons. Then spaced twisted claptons. Then fused claptons. Then staggered claptons.

As for the Avocado tank, as I mentioned, thereā€™s a few ā€˜newā€™ tanks out there with that setup. I found it before the others while searching ā€œceramicā€™ on Fasttech and Google 'ceramic RTAā€. I know youā€™ve heard me say it a thousand timesā€¦Iā€™m searching for flavor as good or better than the Aromamzr. and one with a nice large velocity style deck to build on. You must be able to service the coil with a full tank and top fill not so important, but never a screw. Rememberā€¦ I was the 1st to post here about the glories of the Aromamzr and the Chtulu. Iā€™m hoping the Avocado will be as successful because Iā€™m spending my money on it, and nowā€™s not the time after buying a DNA 200 and the MF flavors. Wheeeew. $$$$. I looked at the Griffin, the Ohmega, ect., ect., If I wanted 'same old, same old" Iā€™d choose another Chtulu and get the absolutely lovely Chtulu v2 version I donā€™t have for a sure thing on vapor and flavor. It is supurb! There is something about the setup of the Aromamzr that makes for great flavor, and Iā€™d like other tank options that are as good. ā€¦We will see about the Avocado. The coil is close and worried a bit about spitback. Definitely temp control in this one to control heat.

Notice how the price of the Chtulu and the Armomamizer have gone up now that they are popular.

I think when it comes to the metal you chose for your wire itā€™s really just a case of preference. The whole Nichrome/Kanthal debate seems ultimately to boil down to preference, but in my experience I donā€™t really like either of them. However, Nichrome heats faster than Kanthal, so thereā€™s that to account for with Claptons

Fused claptons are where an outer wire is wrapped around two core wires in parallel, whereas claptons are simply outer wire wrapped around a single core wire. There are an infinite number of variations but generally speaking these two are the bread and butter.

Thanks. okay. parallel clapton equals fused Clapton.

I have a roll of 28 g wire that says ā€œPure Nickel NI200ā€ on it. I bought it from Fasttech. The brand is ā€œAtomizer wickā€.

Finally got them colors down :grinning:
