those look like they are tops! sweet! keep me posted! are you using corded or cordless drill?

Got both. Recommendations?

Yeah it’s best to get a high quality swivel as you don’t want them to sieze up when you are half way through your alien :fearful:

Talking about aliens… Here’s a baby alien I made today. Felt like doing a single coil on the indestructible.

You tried any ss builds?

both will definitely get the job done. you might start with the cordless at top speed to get the feel of it and get that mastered…then maybe work your way up to the corded…i know it sounds crazy, but wrapping with the corded at 4000-5000 rpm is completely feasible and not difficult at all. on youtube, there is a guy m.terk on pristine builds. watch his video called wrapping with high gauge wire and study his technique…then use his method, its all you will need. remember to keep your spool hand about 12-20 inches away from your core wire and right at 90 degrees…and just keep moving. when you get the feel of it and actually start doing it, you’ll be completely amazed at how well his method works! am i right @vaping_tom???

I have tried with a ss core and nichrome wrap but it was too unstable to hang in tc mode.

I will order some high gauge ss next month. Would be awesome running some fused clapton in tc

Yes sir. Very important keeping the spool a good distance from the core. This will guide the wire naturally onto the core wire and acts like a buffer for janky hand movement

I only have a black and Decker corded drill and run full speed after I have gotten a little bit away from the chuck. If the core wire starts to wobble just ease off a little and it usually stops wobbling.

My only problem now is a very worn out chuck which makes it almost impossible to line up multiple strands of core wire. But next month I’ll be getting a new drill so until then I just practice single and 2 strand claptons.

All of the builds I’ve uploaded to this thread are SS317L or SS316L. Haven’t used anything else since trying them, the flavour is unbelievable.
Regarding the fact they don’t always work perfectly in temp control: they don’t need to, I pretty much always use my mechs now and I still use Stainless
Just wrapped a Stainless Transformer coil, first attempt so it wasn’t perfect but i’m gonna make some more probably tomorrow so i’ll share some pics

Wow, you did that? What kind of wire is that? Platinum?

After all that polishing are you sure you want to vape on them?
How long did it take?

As requiested.
Not perfect, and I should have put a single coil on my mutation, and the post holes were definitely a bit too small for it to work perfectly.
However; brilliant vapour and flavour in consideration.
this is 36/26 SS316 claptons, with 0.5x0.1 316 ribbon claptoned around them both, parallel with a 24g piece of 317
… think that’s everything

As always, Celuotton wick

Just plain old nichrome80.

I don’t recommend doing this kind of polishing unless you have a ultrasonic cleaner. I cycle for 20 min in warm soap water after each sanding and after mounting on atty.

It’s took around 3 hours

Look the business those coil’s bro. Well done. :ok_hand:

I’ve seen our resident coilbuilder @Jondamon put out some beautiful coil’s and it always bewilders me. The tallent that’s accumulateing on this forum is awesome.
I know its down to polishing but what sort of grit you finishing at? 5000’ish.
