I think playstation just came out with a remastered Descent if I am not mistaking.
Need some advice my friends and maybe even more than advice.
Ok, got it built. I have 2 fans in the from pulling in air bunt nothing in the back blowing the air out. There is a place for one (apex 4.5in x 4.5in). If you could recommend a decent fan that isnât expensive ($20-$30).
What I really need to know is how to make sure my PC is running efficiently. Do I need to overclock? or do anything with the GPU?
I just learned about overclocking. Some say donât need to and others say yes you should.
Dude, Iâm just in awe that you are building a computer. I canât even fix minor things
I watched and read a LOT of material and still need help and am grateful that I can get it.
Donât worry about the air getting out of the enclosure if youâre pumping it in wit 2 fans. Just install a program to watch your temperatures but Iâm sure it will be fine if you donât have 110 degrees in the room.
With the efficiency and overclocking⌠I would first make sure it runs on the specs itâs supposed to. So make sure it runs on the Mhz itâs supposed to and that the RAM is set correctly in the bios. As long as you donât have a killer application which is hungry for more power then you can think about it but to be honest, your cpu is not bad at all so Iâd give it a go first and monitor the temps. Thatâs a good indicator for the work itâs doing.
Dont worry about overclocking for now if I were you. Just make sure everything running smoothly.
Agree - OC not necessary - but if you want, here is a review where they go through overclocking that particular CPU:
I would definitely install an exhaust fan ASAP - it plays a role in cooling (Although you want a positive pressure inside the case)
I would get something like this:

Or

Itâs usually a 140mm fan in the rear⌠What case are you using?
Iâd check the temperature first if an exhaust is necessary. In my experience cooling is not such a big thing anymore. And then Iâd rather use one of the two existing ones as an exhaust before I buy another one.
@daath Thank you sir. much appreciated.
@Bad_Influence thatâs a good idea. So far the CPU has gotten to 35 degrees Celcius which is about 80 Fahrenheit but I donât know if that is hot or not. When I look at the master it looks ok
Just install a program to read the temp values and fan speeds etc, or read them in the bios. Itâs probably not doing much so if you really want to know then find a way to stress the CPU and see how that influences the temperature.
Whatâs the most CPU hungry application youâre running?
I going with the general consensus as far as the OC goes. Unless you really want to tinker with it, Iâd just leave it alone. I would get an exhaust fan installed soon though. Probably not a super immediate need unless the room is really hot, but why tempt fate? I remember using a free program called Speccy from Piriform (I think) that will give you a complete system rundown and it doesnât hog resources to do it. If I remember correctly the info was color coded so anything critical (like temp) would be highlighted in red. Take a look if youâre interested. Itâs a no frills program but itâll give you what you need.
@Dan_the_Man youâve already got great answers, but typically what goes IN, must come OUT, so if you have fans pushing in, getting fans pulling out, is great.
Benchmarking is never a bad idea, and 3DMark is the goto for me. Free version as well.
Nah, just leave it as is. No need to inject any hassles.
I did that right away. The program is AMD Ryzen Master
Need the full model numbers please!
Check your PM please!
Great suggestion @Lostmarbles!!
Speccy is one of the best (and most informative) apps out there for system specs and info IMO!
yeah, itâs a simple little program that gives me what I need. I was surprised I still had it on my puter. Havenât used it in years.
