Using a vaperesso xros 4 which is max 30 watt with 0.4 ohm pod (best pod for it)
Thank you all for your responses so far.
As i order some neotame solution, i will mix up at true pod/salts recipe and see where it is against my expectations. I may enjoy it regardless of its lack of sugary sweetness!
@Alchemystic Hi and welcome. I too am in the UK and have recently started diy mixing and use a pod device, I love my Oxva Vprime kit. Using 0.6 or 0.4 with 50/50.
You really sound well clued up and have done a ton of research and reading which is what I did! I am not making any fruit e liquids as not keen, but I learnt the hard way with percentages required etc. Some brands did need an awful lot more with some flavours, I found TFA and also Capella needed higher. I now tend to use a lot of the super concentrates like Sobucky Super Aromas. Then when the flavour notes suggest say between 1 and 2.5% I tend to start with say 3 or 3.5%! I have found the advice so correct when people suggest only 2 or max 3 flavours in a recipe for diy for a pod kit because theyāve been far more successful for me compared to a recipe which contains numerous flavours
I wanted to wish you all the best and hope you get the same enjoyment from it that I have found. And be prepared for total disappointment too! I try the finger lick test really accurate, for something that tastes rank personally its also vaped rank . The syringes with appeture do remove unwanted e liquid from a pod very well!
Thank you for the warm welcome!
Regarding the flavours: do you mix a lot of your own recipes then? My worry is that altering concentrates in recipes to different brands will drastically change the profile. Although maybe this isnāt necessarily a bad thing?
Iām going to have to find out about this finger lick test now XD. Iāve read that some people add a drop of flavouring to a shot of water to try it.

Hedonās Bite
[/quote]'s
I did a quick search of Hedonās Bite suggested uses Tart Green Apple (TPA), a Sweet Pink Apple (TPA Apple), Dark Caramel (TPA Caramel with possibly TPA Molasses) and a Honeydew Melon.
Something on these lines might work well.
Apple (Tart Green Apple) (TPA) 6.00 a tart green apple
Apple (TPA) 5.00 a sweet pink apple
Caramel (TPA) 3.00 darker/richer than TPA Caramel (Original)
Super Sweetener (TPA) 2.00 (Not ethyl maltol as it tends to mute fruit flavors)
Honeydew (TPA) 3.00 creamy and definitely a widely used honeydew flavor
Molasses (TPA) 1.00 old school trick to create a darker caramel.
20% total Hedonās Bite is comprised of 60% VG / 40% PG.
Mr. Good Vape also has a facebook page you could try to message them about the recipe. If it has been discontinued they may be willing to share the original with you.
Trying to do a single flavour test with a pod kit I found difficult. I did also try a drop of the concentrate mixed into water and tasted it and discovered that worked quite well to get an idea of the flavour. I make up very basic mixes as only started this autumn last year. I love the Sobucky Ice cream vanilla concentrate and also their shortbread and whipped cream. Been using cream fresh by FA too. So very easy mixes with combination of those for example ice cream and shortbread and a ehipped cream with ice creamā¦ not a vast variation but i finally found the right percentage of what i need from those and am currently enjoying this easy solution for now for me and my preferred taste!!
Iāve read that the Vaporesso XROS 4 is a good unit and yes 30watt and 0.4 ohm coil should do it. As has been mentioned disposables use a completely different coil structure and wicking material to create the vapor. So matching the flavor of a disposable isnāt feasible but you can get close. Simply try using a higher % recipe especially with fruits as over time they can tend to fade.
Ok, that makes sense, I guess.
I forgot to mention yesterday that one shots concentrates are a really good way of practicing the whole mixing routine of diy. And Darkstar Vapour and also Nom Nomz do a pretty varied large range of them. Gives the recommended percentages and for the ones I chose and made up for my pod kit I only increased the percentage given by 1% and this was ideal.
From every search Iāve done the only places still offering it are scam sites out of china.
What I get from disposables is mainly stevia and either menthol or WS 23. Very overpowering on them
For myself, I have used dark Star Pod Fog Grape and Pod Fog Mango
I have tried all the small 10ml range of pod fog as you receive x amount free or a free Xros v4 mini in a deal
but have since just been buying long fills for my own 50/50 filling and adding my nic salt nicotine to the concentrate
The two flavours are the ones I liked best
Also mango fantasy 250ml bottle shot
Then added to it
1/ inw - Eucalyptus with
mint
2/ WS -23
Or flavour West Extreme Ice
Then sweeteners, but I donāt like lots of sweeteners.
As it Burns coil out quickly. Do not let the Xros tank run near the empty coil will last longer if it never runs dry.
Plus, less sweetener to keep the coil /pod going longer.
But many have become used to such high sweetness and cooling. To me, it overpowers whatever flavour they claim to be.
Then you taste those sweeteners in your mouth for a while after putting the vape down yuck.
I do need to stock up on
Inw -Red Fruit mint
Inw - Black fruit mint
Both are pretty good on their own or in a recipe.
Also FE- Sweet Rice
For my mango sweet rice recipe.
But the UK is not only facing the disposable ban in June 2025
but a massive price hikes upon short fills long fills bottle shots without nicotine.
Buying a 2ml pre-filled pod that goes on your rechargeable pod mod will go up by 44 p, I believe.
But 10Ā£ long fills could see 40.00 + Ā£ increases.
That is insaneā¦ As they attempt to kill the DIY market by taxing you moreā¦ They hate vapers also they are trying to ban it outside public places pubs bars restaurants events etc
So if you find any long fills bottle shots you like stock up now before October
Come October or November 2025, it will be cheaper to smoke.
This is a labourers tax hike incoming. Itās listed on the Darkstar website. Read the comments also.
They are taxing the life out of UK residents. Sadly whoever voted for them must now regret it
If in the UK, Darkstar pod fog berrybomb and Thunder Berry are very sweet juices you can buy ready-made in 10mls only or bottle shots/ long fills/ shortfills very sweet; they do have quite a few pod fog juices made for pod mods.
@Heavy_handed just to let u know that the tax is starting in October 2026 not 2025!! So got a year plus yet. And I agree its an absolute rip off. Can understand the tax on liquids containing actual nicotine, but to tax nic free is literally a money grabber for them. Including the VAT a 100ml shortfill is going to add an extra Ā£26.40 on top of the cost of the liquid, then add on the nicotine at an extra Ā£5.28 for 2 for tax alone. Itās like adding a sugar tax to diet coke! Can only hope they change it to taxing only the nicotine itself.
