Does Capella sweet strawberry get stronger over time?

Just curious. For that matter does strawberry as a general rule of thumb need a long steep time? I’ve been mixing for almost a year now, but I’m a little late to the party as I just started to do strawberry. Also kinda related, are there certain things that will make strawberry “pop” in a recipe? I’m starting with rather low percentages < %5. TIA

Strawberry (Ripe) (TPA) and Sweet Strawberry (Cap) are awesome together. I don’t think that strawberry needs much steep, but it depends on what you’re putting with it. That being said, I don’t know that I’ve had many juices that were HURT by a week or more and almost all benefitted to some degree. As far as fruit flavors in general, a lot of people use citric acid (or lemon/lime juice) to make the fruits really pop. I can’t vouch for that, as I have never tried it. Hope that helps!

Suggest you take a look at the Flavor Pairing Thread. Nothing makes things pop better than mixing flavors together that compliment each other. Does Cap strawberry get stronger over time, probably it does as do many flavors after steeping…

That aside, you can go higher with Sweet Strawberry (Cap) average single flavor mix is 10.8% (10% median) - as part of a recipe the average is 6.1% (6% median) But I suggest doing what @JoJo suggest and mix some strawberries - it’s great!

I wouldnt say it gets stronger but the flavors do come out a bit better. I personally do not like SB (CAP) freshly mixed and i dont like it as a standalone flavoring. But i can say this about all the SB flavorings i have used. As JoJo mentioned i feel they are best mixed together, Sb Ripe (TFA) and SB (CAP) is by far my favorite combination for SB. There was a time when i mixed three different SB’s together, the other being FW, ive since dropped the FW and played with the %'s on the first two.

That said i still have two companies left to try, FA and INW. They are sitting on my shelf compelling me to mix with them!

Hmmm, somehow that sounds like they come out stronger. I think we probably are saying the same thing only we say it differently. Aren’t we weird…lol

ROFL! I think you are right, my friend. To me it starts to taste more realistic after a week or two.

So I did a SEARCH BY FLAVOR STASH, selecting SB Ripe and SSB. Several recipes come up but not a single one by Ken_O-Where. Time to ante up Kenny! I need your secrets! :hourglass_flowing_sand:

Yeah Jo…it’s one thing to say you make good strawberry mixes. It’s quite another to show it. Oh yes I did throw down that gauntlet!

Oh that’s not what I meant. I know Ken makes good recipes and his stuff’s great. He’s started making his own liquid so he made his recipes private. You might PM him if you wanna get the story. His strawnana custard is still out there if you want to try it.

Strawnana Custard is posted by others on the recipe site and here on the forums by me.

Gauntlet, hehe. One of my all time favorite standup video games! To be fair, i never said my SB recipes were good but my wife and mother sure do luv them, lol.

Sorry it took me so long to reply, we just got back from vacation in Shipshewana, IN. We love Amish country! I brought my mini laptop but i forgot the cord, of course.

Sabz posted it to the recipe site, the recipe as posted is the original. Just remember its gonna need some curing time, lots o custard.

hope you enjoy!

Sweet strawberry and ripe like the others have said is my " go to " strawberry in most of my recipes. It is more realistic and has the sense of eating one just by the smell of it ! I feel most my SB mixes do well w/ a few warm baths and cap off 3-4 hours depending on mix ( heavy fruit vs cream w/ fruit, or fruit w/ custards ) I like to give them around 3 days if it doesn’t have too much cream or custard , graham cracker or cheesecake those all take at least 2 weeks and longer is even better. 6% ripe SB with 3% sweet SB is a common ratio I use and works well. Hope you come up w/ some groovy mixes Bc I Love SB !!!

Ken, Amish country is the best. I’m such a glutton so that’s the perfect place for me!

I’ve made your strawnana custard…sort of. I only had TW banana so it was seriously lacking. Next order will include all the right ingredients.

@Amy2, I do use these in combination too. And I agree they complement each other very well. One thing I want to try an mimic is - if you remember them or every had them - is the strawberry/vanilla swirl lifesaver lollipops. I’m thinking avoid the custards, focus on vanilla swirl and sweet cream, and for the extra sweetness perhaps Capella Supersweet I’ve heard a lot about. Thoughts?

I recently made a strawberry guava and it has a reminiscence of a cream style candy that looks like a strawberry. The sweet guava is really an interesting flavor when paired correctly.

Idk I may have to try the candy your speaking of again. Vanilla swirl may work since all the custard tones have been removed. Sweet cream Capella over TFA I think for this one.

Do you have any OOO flavors ? They make a strawberry candy flavor this one may be something to try. Then pair it with a vanilla swirl ? I’m out of it but it was a nice sweet candy like strawberry. Also do you have any jungle flavors their vanilla is really a nice mellow one.

Glad you tried it tho its a bummer you didnt have Banana Cream (LA), it is different from all others. Close it to it would be Banana (CAP) + Sweet Cream (TFA). Thank you for not yelling at me and telling me i wasted your time. I fella on Reddit tried it an subbed all the flavors then got mad at me because he said it sucked, lol.

EDIT:

I love Amish country, Shipshewana is one of my favorite places on the planet. Essenhaus, in Middlebury IN, is one of my favorite placed to eat. Much glutten, many food, fat WOW.
