Hehe…Irish Town, USA
Oh I know the Flanagan clan all too well lmaoooo Born at St Margret’s and lived in the Fields corner area when I was little. Too funny
No kidding, you’re a Dot girl? Years ago I had a friend from Southie who introduced me to Stab n’ Kill (Savin Hill) and other popular Dorchester locations. I included the parentheses because no one else would know what the heck we’re talking about. One of my favorite slangs is the Brain Train (the Red Line from Dot to MIT and Harvard)
I am!! My grandfather worked for the Globe and my dad worked as a lineman for the telephone company. The Brain Train hahaha And haven’t heard that in years. I don’t think I’d want to live there now though. We moved to Chatham because my dad got a job as a ship to shore radio operator at RCA, now closed and is the Marconi museum. I’m had the best of both worlds growing up…Dot when it was safer and Chatham because it was a small little fishing village (with a drinking problem lol) with a population of year round residents of 5000 people at that time. My graduating class was a whopping 57 kids
Good times. My first job was actually working on a gill netter when fishing was great.
Don’t forget Wareham, heehee. Must have been really nice growing up in Chatham at the time. And yeah, you wouldn’t want to live in Field’s Corner right now…or Stab n’ Kill, for that matter. I find it sad when our hometowns change so drastically. I always lived on the ocean so I’m familiar with the culture. New England waters are especially unique…in my mind, anyway.
Just had to add that the Cape has such a mystique about it, too. My friend’s family decided to sell their little summer rental cottage in Sandwich and down the street the Harbor Master’s house was for sale. I had fantasies of buying it and living there. A whole nuther world.
Yes it is…
I’ve been to Cape Cod a couple of times and loved our holidays there! Stayed near to Sandwich! Also Hyannis and visited quite a few towns and Martha’s Vineyard. The Cape reminded me a lot of Cornwall.
Edit, the post made me go back and look where we stayed the first visit and it was Falmouth and was just like near to where I live in Cornwall! Sorry am reminiscing to old America hols years ago!
Ok getting back on topic here, we got 5 more days left to get your recipes in for a chance at the random prize drawing…
Here’s my entry:
Aw heck, I wanted to work on it a bit more but I’ll toss it in…
Odd, I corrected the spelling on April but when I copied the link it insists on Apr instead of April.
