Butterscotch Budino is an Italian-inspired dessert, a creamy butterscotch pudding or custard, often baked in a water bath, and similar to a flan or Mexican flan in texture. It’s made with milk, eggs, cornstarch, and butterscotch flavoring, and can include a crust and whipped cream topping.

It’s like a butterscotch set custard. 2 whole eggs, two egg yolks with cream added. Add butterscotch to the mix and then heat in a glass bowl above a simmering pan of water like you would custard. But there are lots of other flavours you could add. Thought this might be of help.
Ah ha! I mixed a Butterscotch Budino early on in my mixing days, and never knew what the mixer intended to deliver with the profile. It was not quite butterscotch, and not quite custard, but it was pretty dang good. Going to post the recipe here in case anyone needs inspiration.
I gave up on trying to recreate a Werthers Original mix about 6 months ago. I think I was like 10 attempts in but they all completely missed the mark. Maybe it’s time to revive that old project and pick up where I left off, but this time with some custard as well.
Good luck everyone! Looking forward to trying some of the recipes.
Just a little advice ??? Eliminate some of your creams /custards. Boostt that Caramel Butter WF you can take that way up. Also your using DX flsves with DAAP flavors and they dont always play nice. Drop the FA VIC becsude 0.25pct isnt doing anything with all of those other creams , just my 0.2 cents if its even worth that .
First up, I wanna say thank you. I will mix another version today.
I made one with too much of this one time so I’m scared of it lol
I didn’t know that was a thing! Ok.
Ok.
Alright, here’s the revised one. hopefully I’ll get this mixed up today.
I keep cap custard and the fa gelato very low because they have a bad taste to me when used at “regular” percentages. I’m really curious about how this one will be.
Oooh. Tastes good right after shaking. Yum. I hope it comes out good.
Are we staying completely true to profile, or can we wander as long as a butterscotch budino is found within?
For example, I know some people will take this into the pie realm by adding a crust and whipped topping. Would it also be fine to add a smokey (maybe tobacco or smoked butterscotch) note, or is that too far of a stretch?
I’ve wondered of topic and added rhubarb. It contrasts with the richness of the budino. Found a rhubarb budino recipe on line so decided to use it. Well done to last months winners.
Alright, I just mixed this sucker up. Initial snv test is disappointing, hopefully it gets stronger. Couldn’t really taste cream soda (red vanilla) at all.
Bout to mix up a few new juices. I think I finally have a really nice flavor variety of things that I like to choose from.
