ELR Mixing Contest II (LIVE)

I call that highly motivated, wow! If I have to mix 16 batches I’d rather slit my wrists, lmao.

I wanted that one to pair up but it was sold out

I thought about that after I posted, thinking it was an Aussie saying

Well I had my first accident today. I was working with Smooth Vanilla and over poured by twice it’s intended pct.! Don’t ask, it was a scale thing. Of all flavors to over pour  My general usage is around 0.20% I guess I could call it Vanilla Something :happycry:

I believe so. It may not be as updated on elr. More so on atf

I think a lot of us don’t have a complete update on our stash. I know I don’t because I keep finding flavors I didn’t know I had.

Same here. I try to do it little by little on elr and of course i end up missing some and then completley forgetting. ATF is so much easier and faster adding flavors. Just go by brand and click the check mark next to the whole list

Today was day 5 for my “last hope” for a recipe. Those flavors are just now beginning to
smooth out & blend together. My fear now is that as I keep checking it going forward another
5 days (or more) if the final result will be good…or will it simply fade away day by day. :worried:

That is one of the super strong ones, think I was using it almost at a drop per 30ml.

lol yeah, but I have lots of friends bugging for juice so its easy to dump failed batches in a big bottle for them. I’m so thoughtful lol. I also only let them steep a day, even tobacco’s. Steeping is a myth lol. If its not good after a day it will never be good. If it is good after a day then I know it will be amazing after a steep. I don’t know why most people wait so long. Just my 2 cents.

I have to disagree with you @jbitts during my time with the guys from DevelopedDiy they did a Rocky Road Ice cream recipe that tasted like :poop: after the shake, though 2 weeks later we retested the same recipe and it was spot on Rocky Road Ice cream.

Yeah, I agree, steeping is a thing. Tobaccos and heavy creameries are the worst as far as trying them freshly mixed. Fruits however, are a little more forgiving.

I too have to agree, I’ve had several recipes that were just ehh right after mixing turn into something great after steeping, a couple even became phenomenal after as long as a month of steeping! I also have to say, look no further than the current Flavorah mixing competition for proof that steeping is essential for many flavors to develop.
Then again, I am not as experienced as most so I may have no clue as to what I’m talking about, this is just an observation of my personal experiences.

@SessionDrummer @McDuckie @jbitts you all are correct , I think todays flavors for some reason do have less steep time , even custard etc…

I do agree with you jbitts for the most part after a shake i can get a sense of the recipe and after 3 days i know wherr that recipe is headed.

We follow the same rules as we did in 2015/16 when it comes to steeping ,but there are many people who dont steep and if the recipe needs more than a few days they dont think the recipe is worth it.

The last time I migrated my flavors form ELR to ATF only about 100 of them appeared. When I have time maybe I’ll get back to that.

Well luckily we’re not sending actual bottles to the judges  . By the time they mix them and test, it should be fine. They said an average of 5 day steep, iirc.

I wouldn’t be surprised if MFG’s were “grinding” the molecules down to a smaller size.

Idk, for me it depends on the flavors/brands, it seems. That’s why I invested in a homogenizer, so I can get an accurate picture much sooner than later.

People comment on how expensive it is but really, you don’t need much. I see 1.00% in notes and mixes and I can’t imagine.

I have already sent my single item list to Santa for a homogenizer, problem is I keep getting my letter returned with a return to sender notification stamp! :man_shrugging:
