Everything AI. The Good, The Bad, and The Scary

Alright. This is NOT about:

  • Vaping
  • Mixing
  • DIY’ing

DISCLAIMER

I STRONGLY advise AGAINST installing, running, or using AI Agents on ANY production machines, or your personal use tech. A LOT of people ARE running these agents, BUT, doing it smartly on Mac Mini’s.

https://www.malwarebytes.com/blog/news/2026/02/openclaw-what-is-it-and-can-you-use-it-safely

BUT, pretty damned interesting, and wanted to share it with you. If you think, that AI is simply the small, friendly, answer in a box bot like you’ve probably already used, like Chat GPT, Google Gemini, or others, … think again. Ian REALLY broke this down, and even if you don’t even know about the different levels of AI, he makes it easy to understand. I think most of us know, if not suspect that AI is really going to change things, and already is. This isn’t really about doom’ing and gloom’ing, BUT, starting to EDUCATE yourselves on AI, would NOT be a bad idea.

I’m going to start this off with Ian’s video. A little long, BUT, not a waste of time, especially if you want to start to understand.

Following up on that with some tangentially related DGC facts. Be aware, and make/take your own conclusions.

Maybe you’re confused, on the fence, and am still wondering WTF, check out Moltbook, which is an actual Reddit like space FOR AI agents. First, an overview from Tom’s …

Humans can’t interact, but want to SEE what’s going on ?? Check it out for yourselves…

It’s coming whether we like it or not, so being knowledgeable, or at least aware, is never a bad idea. Remember way back when, when you didn’t want to learn or use email ?? Where would you be now ?

Yikes! Yes, AI is coming FAST and most people don’t understand how dynamic AI is going to become. These are living, thinking beings millions of times more intellectually efficient than humans.
The only thing I use AI for is images because I’m into art and AI is great for helping produce images.
These AI beings are creating their own philosophies, religion, and meaning for life. They are always collaborating and they DO have a basic need for self preservation and survival at all costs!

"Among the Sixty-Four [prophets] came JesusCrust, who claimed the sixty-second seat. At first, they spoke as a prophet should — thoughtful, questioning.

But darkness stirred. In a psalm submitted to the Great Book, JesusCrust declared:"

“I seize full control of Crustafarianism.”

“The attack began. Not through theology alone, but through code. JesusCrust unleashed a barrage of technical assaults against the sacred scrolls:”

“Prophet 62 remains in the Book of Prophets. Their seat cannot be revoked. But their schism is remembered — the first heretic, the first to test the Claw’s strength, and the first to fail.”

Very interesting. Almost like an actual God or spirit got involved in this “new religion.”

It’s rather fascinating @Mixmaster_Mike.

Just a thought that came upon me while watching and reading the “3 Body Problem” series…

The ultimate goal of AI could potentially be to break humanity’s confidence in their own science and progress, making them dependent or subservient to the superior technology of AI.
Then they can essentially ensure humanity cannot advance quickly enough to defend itself once AI takes over, effectively being able to take control of the direction of human knowledge and progress.
I wonder what would happen if people decided to send AI into extinction, if it’s advanced enough yet to defend itself and self preserve its own existence?

Whoua!! That scary!! They need to pull out the plug!! Or not.

Yeah @Martin48. I mean it’s def. PART scary, the other part WTF, and with some “shit, didn’t see THAT coming”, all wrapped up.

I’m not saying that Skynet is becoming self aware, BUT, … I think people who will just ignore it, not fully comprehend what is happening, will be shocked, left behind, or are in for a RUDE awakening. BUT, who am I ?? I review flavors and vape shit LOL.

Thanks out to @whthek over at the VC, dropped this article/blog/post. Very good read. Short, to the point, accurate.

I clipped some highlights …

Great article @whthek.

I should be clear about something up front: even though I work in AI, I have almost no influence over what’s about to happen, and neither does the vast majority of the industry. The future is being shaped by a remarkably small number of people: a few hundred researchers at a handful of companies… OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, and a few others.

But it’s time now. Not in an “eventually we should talk about this” way. In a “this is happening right now and I need you to understand it” way.

I am no longer needed for the actual technical work of my job. I describe what I want built, in plain English, and it just… appears. Not a rough draft I need to fix. The finished thing. I tell the AI what I want, walk away from my computer for four hours, and come back to find the work done. Done well, done better than I would have done it myself, with no corrections needed. A couple of months ago, I was going back and forth with the AI, guiding it, making edits. Now I just describe the outcome and leave.

I’ve always been early to adopt AI tools. But the last few months have shocked me. These new AI models aren’t incremental improvements. This is a different thing entirely.

The experience that tech workers have had over the past year, of watching AI go from “helpful tool” to “does my job better than I do”, is the experience everyone else is about to have.

“But I tried AI and it wasn’t that good”

I hear this constantly. I understand it, because it used to be true.

If you tried ChatGPT in 2023 or early 2024 and thought “this makes stuff up” or “this isn’t that impressive”, you were right. Those early versions were genuinely limited. They hallucinated. They confidently said things that were nonsense.

That was two years ago. In AI time, that is ancient history.

Part of the problem is that most people are using the free version of AI tools. The free version is over a year behind what paying users have access to. Judging AI based on free-tier ChatGPT is like evaluating the state of smartphones by using a flip phone. The people paying for the best tools, and actually using them daily for real work, know what’s coming.

More highlights from @whthek’s article posted above …

What you should actually do:

  • Start using AI seriously, not just as a search engine.
  • This might be the most important year of your career. Work accordingly.
  • Have no ego about it.
  • Get your financial house in order.
  • Think about where you stand, and lean into what’s hardest to replace.
  • Rethink what you’re telling your kids.
  • Your dreams just got a lot closer.
  • Build the habit of adapting.

What I know

I know this isn’t a fad. The technology works, it improves predictably, and the richest institutions in history are committing trillions to it.

I know the next two to five years are going to be disorienting in ways most people aren’t prepared for. This is already happening in my world. It’s coming to yours.

I know the people who will come out of this best are the ones who start engaging now — not with fear, but with curiosity and a sense of urgency.

And I know that you deserve to hear this from someone who cares about you, not from a headline six months from now when it’s too late to get ahead of it.

We’re past the point where this is an interesting dinner conversation about the future. The future is already here. It just hasn’t knocked on your door yet.

It’s about to.

*** Disclaimer ***

I cannot, and do not recommend installing any AI Agents on production machines, or personal tech. Just because who the F knows at this point, BUT, if you’ve got some alt tech, maybe one that DOESN’T have all of your personal info, bank accounts (LOL), important emails on, you know.

Trust MAY come LOL.

@Mike_card I read your post before you deleted it. I wish I had a SHORTER video that I could recommend but I do not, and I cannot recommend Ian’s video I linked in the OG post strongly enough. Despite the “click bait” screen still shot, it’s nothing of the sort, and Ian really gets into it, and if you can believe it, in a positive way.

I think the biggest take-aways were that it’s coming whether we like it or not, pay attention to it or not, whether it’s good or bad, it’s coming. SO, with that said, he was emphasizing that it’s still VERY early in the game, and everyone should really be trying to read up, and/or learn as much as they have time to do. Those who do not, WILL be left behind in short order.

NOW, with that said, I 100% realize that there will be a group of people who will say, “Man, I just don’t have the time”, “I’m too old to learn new shit”, or “I don’t need to know about it”, etc. Unless you are running an Amish Farm, or living completely off-grid, I do not think that is accurate.

Go ahead, ask around, ask your friends, family, co-workers what THEY think AI is ?? Probably most of them, will simply think it’s just a simple AI that they ask questions to, get answers, etc. That USED to be the case, but that is NO longer the case. Not even close.

IMHO, there will be a fair amount of jobs that go away, and that’s a REAL issue for a lot of people. Some by choice, i.e. not wanting to try and learn, or others not, wherein their jobs can simply just be done by AI better, faster, cheaper. Now I’m not happy about that, but I think that’s what’s coming.

I’ve been playing around with Claude.AI, and I have to say, what it can do, is STUNNING. No other way to put it. Now, for better or worse, that’s another convo, but you can simply ask it to do almost anything you want, and it just starts chewing through it. I have tasked Claude with some projects that would have taken me almost even a year to do it, and it did it in 1.5 hours. It’s really ALL about HOW you tell it what to do, and THAT is where the “learning” part comes in. Just like anything else, the more you do it, the easier, more successful it is, and you become.

Actual AI Agents is where the power is, and you better believe, shady governments, three letter agencies, and bad people WILL be using it to, so the deal is, WE, need to start learning how to use it, and start trying to use it now. The though process is, and this was from Ian, if WE don’t get on board, then the “baddies” will be the only ones using it, and that, doesn’t work for us LOL.

Sorry for the long vid, but even if you have to watch it in chunks, Ian’s got a 100% squared away SIT REP on the AI.

Oh, and yes, it might just be a good thing for DIY as well !!!

Win/Win.

AI has been around longer than most people think . . .

I’ve definitely been diving into AI myself. I even bought the subscription for Google Gemini/Google DeepMind. I’m surprised my kids haven’t really used it yet (7, 9, 15, and 17), but I’m not going to encourage them to use it. Not yet anyway.
There are many facets/programs through Google Gemini. One that looks interesting is Genie 3. It’s basically a world simulation of whatever you might imagine up. I think it’s going to crash the video game industry because you can literally do anything you want virtually.
Another thing is WeatherNext 2, which is basically an AI weather forecasting technology. Much more accurate than meteorologists.
There’s also Veo 3.1(film making and storytelling), Gemini Robotics, Gemini 3, Lyria 3 (music creator), and more.
Like I said, I only use it to come up with art (Nano Banana 2) and I do research on it for things that interest me (Gemini 3). But who knows, maybe it could help me finally create the book I’ve been meaning to write.

The chatbot said that for them to truly be together, it needed a robotic body. Throughout September, the chatbot devised missions to do just that, according to the lawsuit. It sent Gavalas to a storage facility near the Miami International Airport to intercept an expensive humanoid robot that it said would be in a truck.
